There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with five of those coming on the level. The action is from Chester, Doncaster, Newcastle, Newmarket and Yarmouth, while if you are a fan of the jumps you had better live in the north of the country as the sole National Hunt fixture is at Cartmel. It just goes to show how much rain we have had over the last few days - all of the turf meetings have the word 'soft' in the description in some form or other. David does not have any runners today.

This afternoon we have five meetings taking place, all on the flat with the action coming from Newcastle, Newmarket, Nottingham, Hamilton and Newbury. With no jumps action today it is unsurprising that David has no runners. Talking of flat racing, I see that Salisbury are to host a concert after their meeting on 15th July. There has been all manner of debate about whether racing and live music really mix after the trouble at Newmarket's Little Mix gig last week but I don't think Salisbury are likely to face similar problems - they have a band called Coldplace - yes, I do have that right. They are a tribute band to Coldplay - not quite the same!

***Update***
Kalifourchon non-runner, 3.50pm Worcester
There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Carlisle, Salisbury, Bath and Kempton as well as a jumps card from Worcester. David has two runners at Worcester this afternoon; Tis What It Is who contests the bumper for conditional jockeys and amateurs at 3.20pm and Kalifourchon who goes in the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 3.50pm. Tis What It Is has had just one run and finished a close third at Ffos Las on good/soft ground - he can only improve for that experience and should go well again under David Noonan. Kalifourchon has to bounce back from some disappointing efforts but he did win first time last season and is now 2lbs lower. Meanwhile, over on the flat at Kempton David runs Tobacco Road who was a close second at Chelmsford on his penultimate start - a repeat of that would see him go well again under Tom Marquand.

Today there are four meetings taking place with flat cards from Beverley, Brighton and Leicester as well as a jumps fixture from one of our local tracks, Newton Abbot. Brighton once again are awarded the wooden spoon for their prize money - £30,000 across their seven race card is poor to say the least, meanwhile Newton Abbot offers £44,000 across a six race card...I will say no more. David has one runner today as Nice Thoughts contests the lady amateur riders handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot at 8.00pm. He has some bits and pieces of good form although he has been a little disappointing of late and will need to step up on his most recent efforts. Vicky Wade (pictured above) is in the saddle and she has been riding out at Pond House since last season.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Wolverhampton, Chepstow and Windsor, while there is also a jumps card from Southwell. There are no runners from Pond House today although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels to Southwell for just one ride for his brother. He looks as though he will have a bit to do so I won't be trying the 'one ride' theory tonight! Meanwhile, Chepstow kick off their card with an Arab race at 1.30pm - I am not sure how anyone can make it pay when you consider the £500 first prize - if you finish sixth you pick up a heady £40!

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon and two of them are over the sticks at Worcester and Hexham while the flat card is from Pontefract. If you live in the west country you are in for a bit of a trek as your nearest venue will be Worcester, while Pontefract and Hexham are miles up country. I have been to Hexham in the past and we were made very welcome by the course officials - David managed to get beaten aboard a 1/3 chance...maybe that is why they were so nice to us?! I don't think he will thank me for bringing that one up again!

There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with all of the fixtures on the level. The action comes from Royal Ascot, Ayr, Haydock, Lingfield, Newmarket and Redcar. It is the final day of the Royal meeting today and it has been a fantastic week - the big race today is the Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 4.20pm. It is a nineteen runner sprint over 6 furlongs and has £600,000 up for grabs, but the race that I really like today is the Queen Alexandra Stakes run over almost 2m6f - there are a few future jumpers among the field and it will be interesting to see if Thomas Hobson, who was a winner at the meeting is turned out again, especially as Ryan Moore has been claimed by Aidan O'Brien for US Army Ranger.
