It is a quiet day with just two meetings taking place and flat action from Newmarket and Hamilton. The card at Newmarket is a high quality affair and it features the first fillies' Classic - the 1,000 Guineas. Meanwhile, there is also a Listed contest and a Group 2 in support.  It could be another good day for the Aiden O'Brien team - he saddles favourite Rhododendron as well as Hydrangea and ante-post gamble Winter...there could be more flowers for the Ballydoyle stable.

There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Newmarket, Goodwood, Thirsk and Doncaster, while there are jumps fixtures from Uttoxeter and Haydock. David has a rare runner at Goodwood on the flat this afternoon as recent Cheltenham charity race winner Three Star General runs in the 1m6f handicap at 1.35pm. He had some fair form on the level in Ireland for Aiden O'Brien and ran well on his hurdles debut at Ascot before winning at Cheltenham. Pat Dobbs is in the saddle and I thought that he had sound each way claims.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with action from Chepstow, Lingfield and Musselburgh, while there are a couple of jumps cards from Cheltenham and Fontwell. Lingfield get the wooden spoon today with just £30,000 up for grabs across their seven race card. Something has to be done about this poor prize money - the trouble is, as long as they keep getting owners and trainers running for these sums, the tracks will continue to try their luck.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Redcar, Lingfield and Mussleburgh as well as a couple of jumps fixtures from Towcester and Sedgefield. I know it is the summer, but the most prize money on offer comes from Towcester who have £42,000 up for grabs - it doesn't say an awful lot for the other four fixtures I'm afraid.  You may recall that I was talking about flat jockey Joe Fanning yesterday, well he rode Cardsharp to win the first yesterday so he should have been able to afford to travel home again!

It is another blank day for fans of the jumps - there are five fixtures taking place this afternoon and they are all on the level with the action coming from Ascot, Pontefract, Wolverhampton, Yarmouth and Brighton. Brighton follow in the footsteps of yesterday's Wolverhampton card by offering a pitiful £31,000 across their seven race card. You will need your horse to win just to be able to afford an ice cream!  Talking of Brighton, it took jockey Joe Fanning six hours to drive to the track yesterday - fortunately for him he rode a double which means that his percentage will just about have covered his petrol costs.  He rides there again this evening so he probably had a nice stay in the seaside town - thinking about it, he has just one ride so maybe the 'one ride' theory will have a positive result tonight.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with all the action coming on the flat from Nottingham, Brighton, Yarmouth, Chelmsford and Wolverhampton. Somehow Wolverhampton get away with a total of £31,000 in prize money across their seven race card. This fixture is obviously not being run for the benefit of the owners or the horses, so who is making the money?

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Bath, Windsor and Beverley supported by jumps fixtures from Kempton and Warwick. Fresh from their one day break, the stable has two runners at Warwick; Celestial Path and Work, while Arkadios runs at Kempton.  Celestial Path takes in the novices's hurdle at 1.30pm and he is yet to replicate his good flat form over timber and Bedrock looks to be the one to beat.  Work contests the boys' handicap hurdle at 5.00pm and she was unlucky not to win on her first start over hurdles - she has run creditably since and looks to have fair claims under David Noonan who also takes a handy 3lbs off her back.  Meanwhile, over at Kempton Arkadios takes in the 2m5f handicap hurdle at 4.40pm - I thought he would have won at Newton Abbot last time but for falling two out.  This is a stronger race and he is higher in the weights but he looks like he has a good chance in the hands of Michael Heard.
