There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Sandown, Doncaster, Chelmsford City, Haydock and Beverley as well as a jumps meeting from Newton Abbot.  David does not have any runners today but Pond House jockeys Tom Scudamore and David Noonan have both picked up outside rides at Newton Abbot, indeed Tom has picked up four mounts and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were among the winners today.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Haydock, Yarmouth, Newbury and Epsom as well as a jumps fixture from Perth.  David does not have any runners today.  Meanwhile, Celestial Path finished third in what looked like a decent novices' hurdle for this time of year at Worcester yesterday and he certainly looks to have races in him over hurdles based on this evidence.  Owner Professor Caroline Tisdall was interviewed before the race by Attheraces presenter Luke Harvey and I thought she handled him well when he asked about all her horses.  Caroline complimented Luke on his contribution to ITV's Royal Ascot coverage - it was a good move as he clearly doesn't get too many people being nice to him...it caught him off guard and he lost his thread for a moment or two!

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Thirsk, Kempton and Bath as well as two jumps cards from Worcester and Perth.  David runs Celestial Path in the 4.20pm race from Worcester, a two mile novices' hurdle.  Celestial Path was a good horse on the level with a flat rating of 104 although he is yet to replicate that over timber.  He has shown some fair form with placed efforts at Warwick and Taunton and this faster ground should suit him well.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and he should go well.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton, Chepstow and Hamilton as well as a jumps card from Stratford.  David does not have any runners today although stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads off to Stratford where he has picked up a few outside ride.  Hats off to Stratford who have come up with some decent prize money for a Tuesday summer fixture, the £10,000 handicap chase heading the list.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, all on the level with the action coming from Pontefract, Wolverhampton, Hamilton and Windsor.  The wooden spoon today goes to Wolverhampton who offer just £30,000 across their seven race card.  I wonder who (apart from the tracks) make money when the prize money is set so low - it certainly isn't the owner!  What about stable jockey Tom Scudamore?  He was a winning flat jockey at the weekend as he landed the five furlong sprint at York aboard Tylery Wonder.  I did like the Racing Post's write-up, especially when they say, "It was hard to foresee a performance like this"...I am not sure if they are talking about Tom or the horse!

Purple N Gold runs at Uttoxeter

There are three meetings today, two jumps cards at Cartmel and Uttoxeter and a flat card at Windsor.  There is also a good flat card in Ireland at the Curragh with some Group races.  David has one runner, Purple N Gold in the 4.35pm at Uttoxeter and David Noonan rides.  It has some good prize money on offer and has attracted a competitive field of nine good horses.  Our eight year old is in good form and he won last time out at Fontwell.  I have a slight feeling that 2 miles is just on the sharp side for him these days but having said that he is a fantastic horse who has won 11 races in his career.  Hopefully he can run his usual honest race and be in the shake-up once again.

Tom Scu Rides at York Today
There a seven meetings today and they are all on the flat at, Newcastle, Newmarket, York, Windsor, Chester, Doncaster and Lingfield.  The two big races are the Northumberland Plate and the Irish Derby.  The best thing that happened yesterday is that they taped up Matt Chapman's mouth! Chapman took a vow of silence for charity.  I am sure if he did this for a few more days he would raise thousands!  There is no jumps racing today but Tom Scu has a ride in the 4.50pm at York.  It is a jump jockeys handicap over 5f!  A lot of these jockeys will have never been this fast in their lives!  Tom Scu has said "I am not sure the track at York is quite ready for me to go burning down it!"
