There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Plumpton and two all-weather flat fixtures from Kempton and Wolverhampton.  The stable enjoyed another nice winner at the weekend when Monetaire was successful in the 2m1f handicap chase at Newbury on Saturday under Tom Scudamore.  He ran an eye-catching race on his debut for the stable at Cheltenham on his previous start and was winning here from a mark of 126.  He looks as though he can still rate higher yet and will stay further too.  Tom Scu finished up as top jockey at the Hennessy meetings with four winners which was a nice bonus for him as he didn't even know there was such an award - he doesn't have to pay for RUK now for the next twelve months!

Following the busy day yesterday where the stable had runners at all four of the National Hunt meetings, we return to a bit more normality!  There are only two fixtures taking place today with jumping action from Carlisle and Leicester.  The stable has two runners at Leicester; Famousandfearless and Batavir.  Tom Scudamore is aboard the pair and there is some very good prize money up for grabs with both races worth of £10,000, so a big pat on the back to the course for securing such funds, there are many other tracks out there who could do with taking a bit of notice.

The stable remains in good form and we enjoyed a nice winner at Newbury again yesterday when Tullyesker Hill (pictured above) made all the running for a gutsy success in the Pertemps handicap hurdle qualifier under a good positive ride from Tom Scudamore.  He has looked a most progressive individual in his two starts this season and appears to have endless stamina - let's hope that can maintain his current rate of improvement.  I was particularly pleased for owner Bryan Drew who has been a staunch supporter of the yard since joining us and I thought he gave a fabulous interview on RUK after the race.

The stable enjoyed another nice winner yesterday when Vazaro Delafayette (pictured above) began to confirm some of his early promise by making all for a ready success in the novices' handicap hurdle on the first day of Newbury's Hennessy meeting.  He had some decent form in bumpers and with the hood and blinkers appearing to help with his concentration yesterday, he could be the type to continue progressing now that he has managed to get his head in front.

The stable enjoyed another nice winner yesterday when Smiles For Miles (pictured above) made the long trip up to Wetherby worthwhile with a convincing success in the 2m6 1/2f handicap chase taking our seasonal tally to 56.  He was following-up last week's facile Chepstow success under a 7lbs penalty and he looks to be rapidly improving.  I wonder what the handicapper will do to him after this as he has already been raised by a stone?  Fortunately as a six year old, he still has plenty time on his side.

There are two jumps meetings from Wetherby and Fontwell to look forward to this afternoon as well as all-weather flat cards from Lingfield and Kempton.  We make the long trek up north to Wetherby with two runners; Too Generous who goes in the 2m6f claimer and Smiles For Miles (pictured above) who will be bidding to follow-up his recent Chepstow chase success.  Michael Heard takes the mount aboard the former and his 8lbs claim reduces our mares weight to 10-3 - with such a low weight you would expect her to win, while Smiles For Miles is odds-on to supplement his latest win under Tom Scudamore.  We also have a runner on the all-weather this afternoon at Kempton - Dalgig was a winner at the course last time out and bids to follow-up in the 4.45pm race under former National Hunt jockey Graham Lee.

It was a good day for the stable yesterday with Bengali winning the mares' bumper at Ludlow under her winners' penalty.  She made all the running and saw her race out really well, sticking on bravely in the closing stages - I really love these horses that you can see are doing their best.  There was good prize money for a race of this nature with £3249 on offer to the winner.  I would imagine that she will probably now be sent hurdling as life under a double penalty in National Hunt flat races could prove very tough, she has the size and scope for obstacle and I see no reason why she shouldn't manage to be equally as successful in that sphere.
