It was another good day for the stable yesterday with a double at Exeter with our first runners of the week; Twentytwo's Taken and Brook. David certainly has the stable in irresistible form as we head towards the Grand National meeting at Aintree next week. Twentytwo's Taken (pictured above) was making her first appearance for 340 days but was given another good ride from David Noonan, who himself is having something of a break-out season with 35 winners already on the board. The one that surprised me however was Brook who ran out a convincing winner of the three mile handicap chase under Conor O'Farrell, although this was probably a very good bit of placement from David. Dusk Till Dawn finished fourth in the novices' handicap hurdle over 2m5 1/2f and it looks as though fences and three miles could be the answer for this former Irish point-to-point winner - I make it sound very easy, but it certainly isn't - just ask David!

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumping from Exeter and flat action from Southwell, Lingfield and Kempton. David has three runners at Exeter today; Twentytwo's Taken, Brook and Dusk Till Dawn. Twentytwo's Taken (pictured above) is coming back from a break of 340 days and she is a winner of four of her races, three of them being on soft ground and one on heavy so the prevailing ground conditions should hold no fear for her. She stays well and conditional jockey David Noonan will take 5lbs off her back and I expect her to acquit herself creditably. Brook steps up in trip to three miles and the distance looks as though it will suit although he will need to improve on recent efforts to figure. Dusk Till Dawn is a winning point-to-pointer and despite a fall last time he may run better than his form figures.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Southwell and Hexham as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. The stable has no runners this afternoon although conditional jockey David Noonan (who was on the mark yesterday at Market Rasen) looks to have picked up another decent outside ride at Southwell as he is aboard favourite Loves Destination in the 4.40pm race for trainer Chris Gordon. David was aboard when he won last time and a follow-up looks to be on the cards. He has had a real breakthrough season with 34 winners in total and while he turned conditional some time ago now, David had the amateur jockeys' championship sewn up long before Christmas - a most promising young rider.

What an incredible performance from Lady Of Longstone to win the mares' final at Haydock on Saturday under an excellent front-running ride from Michael Heard. The six year old won £30,000...you can't half buy some flour and pastry with that sort of 'dough'! I can just see the office filled up with cakes now! I did say that she had each way claims and just for a change Mrs Barnes listened to me and had £2 each way on at 25/1...bless her, you would have thought that she had won the National Lottery.

This afternoon there are three meetings taking place with jumps action from Plumpton and Sedgefield as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. David has three runners at Plumpton; Rathealy, Carqalin and Still Together. It is amazing how quickly the ground changes at this time of year and with rain forecast, it is important that you check the prevailing going before having a wager. On paper it looks as though all of our runners are going to need to improve on their latest efforts in order to finish, although with the stable in such good form that is not beyond the realms of possibility.

With Stratford abandoned earlier in the week due to waterlogging it leaves us with four meetings to look forward to this afternoon. The action comes from Haydock, Newton Abbot and Carlisle over jumps while there is an all-weather flat card from Kempton. David runs Port Navas at Wincanton and Lady Of Longstone, Bella and Heath Hunter at Haydock where it is finals day for the inaugural "Challenger Series" aimed at bringing some welcome prize-money to those mid-tier horses. Lady Of Longstone and Bella (pictured above) both contest the mares' final over 2m3f and they have both been real money-spinners this term, winning seven races between them - they both appear to hold small each way claims.

With Musselburgh abandoned it means that we are left with just two all-weather cards from Lingfield and Wolverhampton for Good Friday. Lingfield's card isn't bad mind you, with over £1 million in prize money up for grabs, while even Wolverhampton have put up some decent money. I find it hard to believe that on a day like today when most people have the day off, we don't have a jumping card on - I suppose for those fans of jumping, there is at least the Lambourn Open Day to look forward to, let's hope they get some good weather for that.
