There are three meetings taking place this afternoon and they are all over the sticks with action coming from Stratford, Wetherby and Wincanton.  The stable does not have any runners today, although it looks as though jockeys Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan have picked up some decent outside rides at Wincanton.  They had certainly better get a wriggle on as they were both riding at Ayr yesterday.  It is quite amazing the distances these lads will go in search of a winner.

It is a bumper day of action for racing fans with no less than six meetings taking place this afternoon.  There are flat cards from Chelmsford City, Thirsk, Nottingham and Wolverhampton as well as jumps fixtures from Ayr and Bangor.  The Ayr card features the Scottish Grand National and David has three runners there; Mango Cap, Impulsive American and Top Wood in the big one.  Top Wood (pictured above) is a 40/1 chance according to the Post and that is too big a price as far as I am concerned.  He does have a disappointing effort over hurdles to overcome but prior to that he was running a big race in the four miler at the Cheltenham Festival when coming to grief and was a convincing winner at Ludlow prior to that.  If he runs to his best and gets this trip he could run a big race.  David also has a runner at Bangor where Obistar runs in the 2m7f handicap hurdle - he should run well under Kieron Edgar.

Following the abandonment of Newbury today we are left with four meetings with jumping action from Ayr, Fontwell and Southwell and a flat card from Bath.  David does not have any runners today, although he is currently travelling to Scotland where he will have runners tomorrow on Ayr's Scottish Grand National card.  Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan have both picked up some nice outside rides at Fontwell today with Conor riding Saint Roque and Red Hanrahan for Paul Nicholls.

***Bella, Katkeau non-runners at Cheltenham***

There are four meetings taking place today with flat action from Newmarket, Ripon and Chelmsford City as well as the second day of Cheltenham's April fixture.  David has four runners at Cheltenham; Lady Of Longstone, Bella, Katkeau and Amigo.  Lady Of Longstone (picture above) has had a quite remarkable season winning five times, including a valuable handicap at Haydock last time out.  She is 8lbs higher again for that success but she should once again give a bold show.  Bella goes in the same race and she has also been a little money-spinner this term, while Amigo and Katkeau both look to hold sound claims in the staying handicap chase.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three flat fixtures from Beverley, Newmarket and Kempton while there is jumping action from Cheltenham.  The stable has two runners at Cheltenham;  Batavir and Rathealy.  Batavir has run three good races recently including when third at Wincanton last time from today's mark of 125.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore is back on board and he should go well once again.  Meanwhile Rathealy will be a big price for the 5.20pm race - he is yet to recapture the best of last season's form that saw him win two of his last three starts, although he has begun to drop to a feasible handicap mark now.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket and Southwell as well as a jumps fixture from Exeter.  David runs two at Exeter this afternoon; Port Navas and Carqalin.  Both are going to go off at long odds - Port Navas was pulled up on his hurdles debut last time, while Carqalin (pictured above) finished third at Plumpton on soft ground on his latest start.  They are both entitled to improve although they are going to need to to figure - Tom Scudamore takes the mounts.  Tom also rides a fairly well fancied one for Colin Tizzard called Justatenner - it looks to have a decent chance and they are even telling you how much to have on!  Meanwhile it is good to stable conditionals Kieron Edgar and David Noonan picking up outside rides.

What an amazing weekend of racing!  It was a good Grand National with all of the runners returning safe and sound this year and it was especially good for 19 year old David Mullins who won the big race aboard Rule The World on his first ride in the race.  It seems that everybody involved in racing in Ireland is called Mullins, okay so that might be a slight exaggeration as the winning trainer was ever-popular Mouse Morris.  Only in the Grand National could a horse that is a maiden over fences win the biggest Steeplechase in the world.  In fairness, the horse has always had plenty of ability, finishing placed at the Cheltenham Festival a few years ago as well as finishing runner-up in last year's Irish Grand National.  He has had his share of problems to so this was a very good training performance.  Anyway, above is a picture of Martin with winning owner Michael O'Leary of Ryanair fame.
