Following the success of Weather Babe at Exeter on Wednesday night, the stable maintained it's good form with the success of Mozo in the bumper at Uttoxeter last night.  Indeed, our daughter of Milan was a ready winner on her racecourse debut under Tom Scudamore, coming home five lengths clear of the remainder.  She can only improve for the experience and appears to have a bright future.

The stable enjoyed a nice winner at Exeter last night (our first domestic winner of the new season) when Weather Babe ran out a ready winner of the 3m handicap hurdle under Conor O'Farrell.  Our mare seemed to win with a bit in hand, while Houston Dynimo was not discredited back over the smaller obstacles in fourth.  The winner is a homebred mare so it was a double celebration for owner Wayne Clifford and breeder Sarah...well done to them!  It is not often the yard has a 12/1 winner and I hope that a few readers of this column were on after a positive mention yesterday.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton and Catterick and jumps action from Fakenham, Sedgefield and Exeter.  The stable has two runners at Exeter; Weather Babe and Houston Dynimo (pictured above) in the 7.20pm race - both have won on fast ground so the prevailing conditions should suit, although how fast it is going to be is questionable looking at the amount of rain coming down this morning.  Not only that, it was so misty when I came past the course en route to the yard this morning that you could barely see more than 25 yards in front of you.  If I had to have a bet tonight I would probably plump for Weather Babe, owned by stable sponsor Wayne Clifford - you never know, I may get a discount on my tyres!

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Warwick and Kempton as well as flat cards from Windsor, Beverley and Bath.  Tom Scudamore travels to Kempton where he rides Our Chief and My Brother Sylvest for the stable, while we are also represented by Good Value and Multimedia at Warwick.  I will be interested to see how Our Chief gets on this afternoon - he has shown promise in his races when finishing fourth and this looks like an open race.  Meanwhile Good Value has been disappointing since switching to hurdles but if he can recapture any of his decent flat form he should be capable of winning a race of this nature.

This afternoon there are three meetings taking place on the level at Newmarket, Salisbury and Hamilton.  Channel 4 are covering all three meetings so it is a treat for racing fans this weekend - I can't remember the last time they were at Hamilton.  There is a cracking card from Newmarket, as you would expect given that it is 1,000 Guineas day.  There is also a Group 2 and Listed contest supporting the big race.  Interestingly Kieren Fallon travels all the way up to Hamilton for four rides - you would have thought he could have found something at Newmarket, he is still a top jockey after all.

It is a bumper day of action today with six meetings taking place including jumps cards from Uttoxeter and Hexham and flat fixtures from Thirsk, Newmarket, Goodwood and Doncaster, not to mention the final day of the Punchestown Festival in Ireland.  The stable has two runners this afternoon at Punchestown; Stars Over The Sea and Monetaire.  Stars Over The Sea finished a close fourth at Aintree and if he settles he could run a big race.  Monetaire was very unlucky last time when competing over the Grand National fences in the Topham Chase at Aintree, being badly hampered before being brought down by a faller in front of him.  Previously he was a narrow runner-up at the Cheltenham Festival and he has the form to run a big race - Tom Scudamore rides them both, while he has also picked up a couple of outside rides.

Today there are five meetings taking place with flat cards from Chepstow, Musselburgh and Lingfield as well as jumps fixtures from Bangor and Fontwell, not to mention of course the fourth day of the Punchestown Festival over in Ireland.  The stable runs Dell' Arca (pictured above) in the Punchestown Champion Hurdle at 5.30pm and while he is the 66/1 outsider for the five runner field, he is guaranteed a minimum of €4,000 if he jumps round to finish last.  If Jezki doesn't run (and that is a real possibility considering that one won the three mile World Hurdle at the meeting yesterday) then that goes up to €6,000 and with Tiger Roll closely rated with him there is the possibility of more, although it will be extremely difficult to beat the Champion Hurdle 1-2 Faugheen and Arctic Fire.  Credit where it is due, it was an excellent entry from David.  Meanwhile Tom Scu, who was on the mark at Newton Abbot last night travels back over to Ireland to ride.
