The stable enjoyed a welcome winner heading into the Cheltenham Festival when Molo (pictured above) absolutely bolted up in the mares' handicap hurdle at Chepstow under Liam Heard. The blinkers certainly seemed to wake our mare up and hopefully they will continue to have a positive effect. She was our 103rd winner of the current campaign and as I say, it is always nice to approach the Cheltenham Festival on the back of a winner. David's team have been in good form all season long, so let's jut hope that will continue for another few days at least!

Today we have just two jumps cards from Market Rasen and Warwick but now really is the lull before the storm. David doesn't have any runners today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads off to Market Rasen to ride a couple and he looks to have a decent chance on Relic Rock for Brian Ellison. Champion jockey A P McCoy would appear to be giving himself the day off before Cheltenham week and I tend to agree - if I were a jockey with a strong book of rides next week, I would be very selective with my mounts over the next couple of days and I certainly wouldn't be riding anything with a F,U or R next to the horses' name!

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three jumps fixtures from Sandown, Ayr and Chepstow as well as an all-weather flat card at Wolverhampton. The big event of the day is without doubt The Imperial Cup at Sandown and it is a race that is held dear to everyone at Pond House, not least because it carries with it a cool £100,000 bonus to any horse that can win here en route to Cheltenham victory next week. Martin achieved the double with Olympian and Blowing Wind, while David has also accomplished it with Gaspara - between them they have won the Imperial Cup nine times with David taking it with Ashkazar and Baltimore Rock (as well as the aforementioned Gaspara).

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Sandown, Ayr and Leicester as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. The stable runs Serienschock at Sandown - he finished a good second at Wincanton last time out on soft ground and our seven year old looks to be improving with each run. Serienschock (pictured above in action on the gallops earlier in the week) is on a mark of 133 which seems high enough considering he is yet to win in this country, although he looks to hold sound claims again under stable jockey Tom Scudamore. Talking of Tom Scudamore, I did say that he had a couple of good looking rides at Carlisle yesterday and so it proved as he booted home a double aboard Greybougg and Speredek taking him onto the 127 winner mark - just one behind Richard Johnson.

Today we have a jumps card from Carlisle as well as two all-weather flat meetings from Southwell and Chelmsford. The stable has no runners today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels up to Carlisle for three rides - he looks to have a couple of decent chances too. The big news that broke yesterday was that of another impending retirement, this time of champion flat jockey Richard Hughes. Hughsie, who has won the flat championship for the past three years will retire at the end of the coming flat season and will take up training in 2016. He may be 42 but he is riding as well as ever and is probably the most stylish jockey riding today - he said you can't go on forever as a jockey, but you can as a trainer.

Following the abandonment of Fontwell due to waterlogging we are left with just three meetings afternoon - a jumps card from Catterick and two all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Kempton. The stable has no runners this afternoon and unbelievably Tom Scu has decided to give his car a rest as he hasn't picked up any spare rides at Catterick. Instead, he has joined us this morning and will be riding a few out and helping with the schooling. There is excellent news if you are a fan of the all-weather, you can go to Lingfield in the afternoon and then rush down the road to go to Kempton - great race planning!

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Exeter and Newcastle as well as an all-weather flat meeting from Southwell. The stable has one runner this afternoon, Great Choice (pictured above) ridden by stable jockey Tom Scudamore. The Racing Post have our runner forecast as favourite at odds of around 7/4. On his reappearance run at Cheltenham where he finished an excellent second he would have a leading chance, although he has been creeping up the weights subsequently. He will handle the ground and this step up in trip could also prove beneficial.
