It was another great day for the yard on Saturday after Poole Master had won the valuable Grand Sefton handicap chase over 2m5f and the Grand National fences at Aintree under Tom Scudamore. Tom was understandably elated to notch his first win over these unique fences - his grandfather had won the National aboard Oxo, although his father Peter never won a race around the National course. With £43,300 to the winner I am sure the owner was elated too! I thought that Michael Heard gave Bygones Sovereign a fantastic ride to win the hanidcap hurdle in the dying strides at Chepstow - he was at our eight year old from a very early stage and if it had been A P McCoy in the saddle it would be talked about as the ride of the week...and remember Michael still claims 7lbs! Very well done to him.

Following on from our frantic Saturday at four meetings, things return to a more sedate pace today with just two meetings taking place at Huntingdon and Kelso, although we do still have runners at both meetings. Saint John Henry and Susie Sheep run at Huntingdon and will be partnered by Conor O'Farrell, while Tom Scudamore makes the long journey north to partner Virtuel d'Oudon and Shotavodka. I wonder if Tom has ever sold a low mileage car in his life?! I will be joining David by flying up to Huntingdon this afternoon - it has been a long time since I have been there, in fact Sabin du Loir beat Desert Orchid in the Peterborough Chase the last time I was there...happy memories indeed!

It looks like being a busy day with five meetings taking place this afternoon and the stable having runners at most of them. The action comes from Aintree, Sandown, Chepstow and Wetherby over the sticks, while there is also an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. The stable has two runners in the Becher Chase over the Grand National fences at Aintree; Our Father (picture above, Conor O'Farrell) and The Package (Tom Scudamore) - they both have experience over these fences and can go well, although the fact that the bookies go 12/1 the field tells you all you need to know about how competitive this race is. Poole Master is our other runner at Aintree and he takes in the 2m5f chase, also over the National fences at 3.15pm.

It was yet another good day for the stable yesterday when Taj Badalandabad and Bladoun completed a double at Leicester under Tom Scudamore. Taj Badalandabad (picture above) rallied bravely to win the novices' hurdle by 2 1/2 lengths under his penalty. He certainly seemed to appreciate the soft ground and showed a likeable attitude to grind out victory here. He has proven to be a great purchase for owner William Frewen as he has now won four of his five starts since joining us from the Irish point-to-point ranks. Bladoun was given a good positive ride to record his first victory and looks as though he could follow-up.

Today there is action from Wincanton, Market Rasen and Leicester as well as an all-weather card from Kempton. The stable has two runners at Leicester; Taj Badalandabad and Bladoun as well as Dalgig who is a runner at Kempton. Dalgig blotted his copy book last time out when he didn't want to come out of the stalls, giving Graham Lee a real 'Hamlet moment' - let's hope our four year old is on his best behaviour this evening for Willie Twiston-Davies. Taj Badalandabad (pictured above) was a ready winner over hurdles at Chepstow last time and looks a most promising recruit - Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners today and they both appear to hold solid claims, while he has also picked up a couple of well-fancied outside rides.

The long trip up to Sedgefield was made worthwhile yesterday when Skylander bolted up in the bumper by thirteen lengths under Tom Scudamore to become our 60th winner of the season. He certainly seemed to handle the testing going and looks another nice jumping prospect - a winner of an Irish point-to-point, he will certainly be seen to even better effect when tried over further. Our other runner Mount Haven was a disappointing favourite although he seemed to hate the soft ground and is clearly better than this effort - his previous form reads well and there will be plenty of other days for him when returned to a sounder surface. The stable has no runners today.

There are three meetings to look forward to this afternoon with jumps fixtures from Sedgefield and Southwell as well as an all-weather turf fixture from Wolverhampton. Unfortunately the prize money is nothing to shout home about with a total of 21 races taking part across the country for a grand total of just £90,000. The stable has sent two runners on the long journey to Sedgefield; Mount Haven (pictured above) and Skylander and stable jockey Tom Scudamore is aboard the pair - they are both forecast favourites in today's Racing Post and look to hold solid claims. I have been to Sedgefield on a couple of occasions and they have always made us feel most welcome, in fact they even gave us lunch on one occasion!
