If you are a follower of jumps racing, I'm afraid you are out of luck.  During the last three weekends, the only action we have had to look forward to on a Saturday was one solitary Hexham meeting!  This afternoon there is action on the level from Ascot, Ayr, Newmarket, Redcar, Haydock and Lingfield.  The stable has one runner this afternoon for the final day of the Royal Ascot meeting, Junior who particpates in the Queen Alexandra over a marathon 2m6f trip.  Remember, Junior is a former Royal Ascot winner (pictured above) and there won't be many in the field that see out this trip like he can on a going day...let's hope it is one of those.  He won't be wanting for assistance from the saddle either as he is partnered by former champion and Ascot Gold Cup winning jockey Ryan Moore.

It's day four of Royal Ascot this afternoon and that is obviously the highlight of the day, although there is plenty of other quality action taking place at Redcar, Newmarket and Goodwood, while the stable has two runners at the jumps fixture at Market Rasen.  My Brother Sylvest takes in a competitive looking handicap chase, while Basil Fawlty runs under a penalty for last week's Worcester success.

There are six meetings taking place this afternoon and the headline act is obviously day three of the Royal Ascot meeting.  They are supported by flat cards at Ripon, Warwick, Leicester and Lingfield, while there is a competitive jumps card at Ffos Las.  The stable has six runners at the Welsh track - Third Of The Third, Oddjob (pictured above), The Tracey Shuffle, Qulinton, Bathwick Man and Waterunder.  The last named pair appear to have a tough task ahead of them as they take on probably the best handicapped horse in the country in Busted Tycoon.  Busted Tycoon won again at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon and would have still won pulling a milk truck - the four year old filly is laughing at the handicapper at present, let's hope she doesn't run today!

It was a good day for the stable yesterday, for although we did not have a Royal Ascot winner, Massannie (pictured above) was the easy victor of the mares' novices' hurdle at Stratford.  She won with any amount in hand under Tom Scudamore and Wayne and Sarah Clifford's homebred would appear to be a mare to follow.  She is now unbeaten in two starts since joining us at Pond House and looks well capable of holding her own in a better grade than this.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon - one over the sticks at Stratford and four on the level at Thirsk, Brighton, Kempton and Royal Ascot.  The obvious highlight is the first day of the Royal meeting and as you would expect there is some top class action to look forward to - with over £1.2 million in prize money in offer it is hardly surprising.  The stable has two runners in the Ascot Stakes, Investissement and Junior.  Junior won the race three years ago but is still 6lbs higher than that day, while Investissement ran okay last time in the Chester Cup and this track should suit him better.  Meanwhile Massannie (pictured above) bids to follow-up her Pond House debut success at Stratford under Tom Scudamore.

This afternoon there are four flat meetings taking place at Carlisle, Kempton, Warwick and Windsor, but to me the biggest question that needs to be asked about today's action is how can a top London track get away with £28,000 for a seven race card?...it beats me.  At least there will be some proper prize money up for grabs tomorrow when the Royal meeting at Ascot gets underway.

Today there are just two flat cards at Doncaster and Salisbury.  I think it is amazing that it is a Sunday and there are just two race meetings on.  I know I go on about race planning but surely you need plenty of race meetings on both days?  You don't need a lot of prize money to do this either.  The most prize money at Doncaster is an £8,000 handicap and they have two races worth under £3,000.  Salisbury are staging a decent Listed race with £23,000 up for grabs to the winner. The weekend is when most people get to go racing or at least watch it on the telly so sure it is beneficial to the racecourses and racing in general?
