It's a big day today with the start of the Grand National meeting from Aintree.  The supporting action comes from a jumps card at Taunton as well as a couple of flat fixtures at Chelmsford and Southwell.  The stable has runners at Aintree and Taunton - at Aintree we are represented by Stars Over The Sea, Ballynagour, Unique de Cotte, Serienschock and Bygones Sovereign, while at Taunton we run Softsong, Willem, All Force Majeure and Multimedia.  Unique de Cotte (pictured above) will be ridden by champion jockey A P McCoy for his boss J P McManus and I think he will run a big race with the trip and flat track looking ideal to me.

It's another all flat day with racing taking place at Nottingham, Catterick, Lingfield and Kempton.  Unsurprisingly the stable has no runners this afternoon but don't worry jumps racing returns tomorrow with fixtures from Taunton and Aintree.  With tomorrow marking the beginning of the 2015 Grand National meeting, I would have thought it would have been better to have had Taunton on today and an extra flat meeting tomorrow, or am I missing something?  Don't answer that!

We have a couple of blank days as far as jump racing is concerned with the next National Hunt action coming on Thursday with the first day of Aintree's Grand National meeting.  Consequently, the three meetings taking place this afternoon are all on the level at Pontefract, Chelmsford and Lingfield.  Typically though, the most prize money on offer today comes from Ireland over the sticks at Fairyhouse.

As you would expect of a Bank Holiday Monday there is a busy afternoon of racing ahead with no less than seven meetings taking place.  There are five jumps fixtures from Plumpton, Fakenham, Market Rasen, Chepstow and Huntingdon as well as flat cards from Wolverhampton and Redcar.  At the moment my neighbouring town Torbay is packed with holiday makers and I cannot for the life of me understand why there is a meeting further south west than Chepstow - great race planning once again!  The stable has three runners this afternoon with Obistar and Gevrey Chambertin (pictured above) at Chepstow partnered by Tom Scudamore, while conditional jockey Michael Heard is aboard Skylander at Plumpton.

Lady of Longstone runs at Plumpton
David has one runner today, Lady of Longstone in the last race of the day at Plumpton.  Kieron Edgar rides our mare in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle.  She has had a winter break and is having her first run for 117 days.  She should like the quick conditions and hopefully our bumper winner can run well.  As well as Plumpton we also have a jumps card at Sedgefield and a flat card at Musselburgh.  I see AP has gone to ride at Fairyhouse where he has three rides.  I am sure he will win on at least one of them and I wonder how many extra people will go racing just because he is there?

                  Happy Easter
Today we have four meetings, three jumps cards at Carlisle, Haydock and Newton Abbot plus a flat card at Kempton.  It is a quiet day for the yard with no runners but all of our jockeys seem to be in action.  Tom Scu and Kieron Edgar are both a Newton Abbot, Conor O'Farrell is at Carlisle and Michael Heard is at Haydock.  Channel 4 missed the first half of a race at Lingfield yesterday as they were on a commericial break!  Quite funny as Nick Luck had promised "you won't miss anything!".  You only saw the last three furlongs!  In yesterday's action at Lingfield the unlucky horse was Sovereign Debt.  He got no luck in running and was beaten a neck.  I am not sure the jockey was at his best...can you tell I backed him!  I also did my money on Anglophile who was beaten a head.  It was one of those days!  There was a record crowd at Lingfield so you can tell there is a demand for racing on Good Friday.

                On the Gallops
David's horses continue in good form and Classical Art dead heated to win the 2.50pm race at Taunton yesterday and take the winners total to 113 for the season.  Both jockey's involved thought they had won but obviously the photo finish said otherwise!  I think if he jumped the last cleanly we would have won.  Michael Heard's good run continues and that was his second win in two days and his 10th of the season.  For the first time we have racing on Good Friday, with two flat cards at Lingfield and Musselburgh.  Low Key ran well and and finished third, only two lengths behind the winner, Post Melon.  Lets just hope the handicapper does not take the run too seriously, he could put Low Key on a silly mark. Yard sponsor and owner Wayne Clifford was jumping around the parade ring on the telly at Taunton yesterday after his horse Sporting Boy won.  Wife Sarah had to present the prize to him as Bathwick Tyres sponsored the race.  Well done to them!!
