It looks like being a busy day for the yard with four runners spread across three different meetings, including War Singer and Midnight Tuesday who travel all the way up to Kelso and will be ridden by Tom Scudamore.  Bathwick Man, who has been in such good form this season is topweight for a very competitive handicap hurdle at Huntingdon , while Molly Oscar will be partnered by young conditional jockey Kieron Edgar at Uttoxeter.  Let's keep our fingers crossed for a winner or two from them!

It is the start of an exciting weekend of racing and there are five meetings to look forward to this afternoon - four on the flat at Ascot, Newmarket, Redcar and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps card at Fontwell.  There is some excellent prize money up for grabs at Newmarket today (over £900,000!) and the main contributor is the Tattersalls Sales' race where the winner picks up £277,521.  Even the tenth horse home collects £5,000! - it certainly makes you look twice at the Tattersalls catalogue when you are looking to buy a two year old.

Our only runner yesterday Too Generous proved something of a disappointment at Bangor.  Having won her previous two starts in bumpers it was a shame to see her well beaten here, but I am sure she is better than that and there will be other days for her.  There are five meetings on this afternoon - three of them on the flat at Ascot, Yarmouth and Wolverhampton, while there are jump cards at Fontwell and Hexham.  As you would expect, Ascot holds a very good, competitive card with four tight handicaps on the menu, meanwhile Hexham are giving their ground as heavy.  It is a stiff track at the best of times and I notice there is a novices' hurdle over three miles...I suspect the finish will look as though it is in slow motion!

The stable has one runner at Bangor this afternoon as the unbeaten Too Generous makes her hurdling debut in the 2m4f mares' novices' hurdle at 4.20pm.  The saying goes that you have to be decent to win more than one bumper and our four year old filly has done just that, showing a willing attitude in her races and she receives weight from the previous winners this afternoon.  It looks to be an interesting little race and we would appear to have decent claims.  There are three other meetings taking place today, all on the flat at Warick, Southwell and Wolverhampton.

It's a great shame that the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe seems to be cutting up.  The race that effectively decides the best middle distance performer in Europe has been denied two of it's leading fancies as last year's winner Danedream is grounded in Cologne where an outbreak of swamp fever at the training centre means that she cannot travel, while the John Gosden trained Nathaniel was taken out when his blood was found to be wrong.  He drifted quite badly in the markets yesterday so someone clearly knew there was a problem before he was declared a non-runner.  On a positive note though, Camelot who narrowly failed to win an historic Triple Crown could well bid to atone for that defeat on Sunday - it should still be a great race and I will definitely be tuning in.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with two fixtures on the flat at Ayr and Wolverhampton and a jumps card at Sedgefield - with the recent inclement weather it is hardly surprising that the going at Ayr has come up heavy, although Sedgefield have obviously been less inconvenienced as they officially give the going as good.  Chester held it's first trial of hurdles at the course yesterday and the session proved largely successful although there was one faller that lay winded for a while.  I bet organisers of the trial were holding their breath before the horse rose to it's feet, especially with assembled members of the press in attendance.  I know that a few of the flat boys are not keen on the idea of jumpers on the Roodee, although it did not appear that the track was too tight for them to get around the corners.  Chester always attracts a good crowd and I reckon it would be a good way of increasing the profile of jump racing.

I was pleased to see that Newton Abbot have cancelled their intended inspection this morning and deem the course fit to race.  There has been plenty of rain down here over the last couple of weeks and the ground is sure to be pretty testing - the stable has one runner, Vertige Dore in the handicap hurdle at 4 o'clock.  With the abandonment of Hamilton, there is also one other meeting on the flat at Bath this afternoon.  Amazing isn't it?...two more meetings on in the same neck of the woods on the same afternoon - once again, stand up and take a bow race-planning!
