It is a busy day with no less than six meetings taking place this afternoon.  The action comes on the flat from Newmarket, Haydock, Chester, Ripon and Chelmsford City as well as a jumps card from Market Rasen.  The Market Rasen card is a cracker with a Listed hurdle and chase on the menu and Tom Scudamore has picked up a nice outside ride in the chase aboard second favourite Walkabout - he has won with give in the ground too.

David has two runners today; Ennistown (pictured above) in the 2m4f handicap hurdle at 3.45pm and Aero Majestic who contests the 2m4f novices’ hurdle at 4.55pm.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket, Pontefract and Chelmsford City, while the good news is that following an early morning inspection the jumps card from Perth goes ahead.  Leading jockeys Richard Johnson and Sam Twiston-Davies have made the marathon trip north for the fixture so let's hope they are successful otherwise it will be a long journey home for them.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Beverley, Lingfield and Chelmsford City while there is a National Hunt fixture from Warwick.  The stable runs Red Square Revival in the 2m4f handicap chase at 2.25pm, his second start over fences.  He will have learned plenty for his debut over fences and he clearly has ability judged on his Worcester bumper success.  This shorter trip should also be in his favour and he is partnered by Tom Scudamore.

There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with both fixtures on the level at Kempton and Leicester following the abandonment of Hamilton.  It looks like heavy rain has got into the ground at the Scottish track with the deluges creating false patches of ground.  They have obviously had considerably more in the north than we have had this way.

There are just two meetings today and they are both over the sticks at Plumpton and Uttoxeter.  Tom Scu has four rides at Plumpton and a couple look to have small chances.  I see that officials at Ayr are mystified by the water logging that forced the abandonment of their Gold Cup meeting.  You would have thought they could have found someone who could have sorted it out.  The track's next meeting is on 3rd October and they are talking about moving the flat fixture onto the hurdles course.  Only the other day Bath lost a days racing because of an infestation of chafer grubs.  Their two day meeting was rescheduled into one as they could only have races of 6 furlongs or shorter.  Sometimes nature wins!
