There are four flat cards taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Doncaster, Chester, Musselburgh and Lingfield. The highlight of the day is the final Classic of the season, the St Leger at Doncaster - a Group 1 for colts and fillies over 1m6½f. Geldings are not allowed to enter which is a particular shame for David Elsworth who wanted to run yesterday's Doncaster Cup winner, Desert Skyline in the race but he has already been gelded...never mind David! Defoe looks worth an interest to me at odds of around 7/1 - he won't want the ground drying out any more, but he looks to be on the upgrade - perhaps he can score here because he can't score for Bournemouth at the moment! The prize money at Doncaster this afternoon is a whopping £999,000...but why on earth did they not make it £1million as it just sounds better?

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with all of the action coming on the flat. Indeed, there is no jump racing now until Monday - why the powers that be think that it is a good idea not to have any jumping at a time when most people are able to go racing is a mystery to me. Anyway, today's action comes from Doncaster, Chester, Sandown and Salisbury. It is day three of the St Leger meeting from Doncaster today and there are three Group races on the card including the Flying Childers which looks to be a very good race. With the Karl Burke team in good order it is not difficult to see Havana Grey taking a lot of beating. He appreciates the rain softened ground and ran well in a Group One at Deauville last time out...it sounds as though I am talking myself into a wager.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three flat cards from Doncaster, Epsom and Chepstow, while there is a National Hunt fixture from Hexham. The big race of the day (in terms of prize money at least is the two year old stakes at 3.35pm with £300,000 up for grabs - with that sort of pot it is hardly surprising that it has attracted a quality field of 22 runners. The first home picks up a cool £147,540 but with so many youngsters racing over 6½f on soft ground, it might just be easier to buy a lottery ticket than try to back the winner! The favourite is 9/2 chance Great Prospector and he will handle the ground - hardly original but he would be my selection.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Doncaster (where it is day one of the St Leger meeting), Kempton and Carlisle as well as a jumps card from Uttoxeter. David has no runners today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up a spare ride at the Staffordshire track although it is a big price - I think I will give the one ride theory a swerve today.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Leicester, Catterick and Newcastle as well as a jumps fixture from Worcester. David has one runner today as Kalifourchon (pictured above) makes his debut over fences in the 2m4f handicap at 2.35pm. He has won over hurdles from a mark of 120 and has twice finished second from this mark over timber already this season. He starts off over fences from a mark of 118 and with a clear round of jumping he should be thereabouts. Tom Scudamore takes the ride.

There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon and two of them are jumps fixtures...happy days! The jumping action comes from Perth and Newton Abbot, while there is a flat fixture from Brighton. With just £30,000 up for grabs across their seven race card, the jumps tracks put Brighton to shame - you would need to win your race just to pay your expenses at the Sussex track! Anyway, I digress...can you tell that this prize money malarkey really gets my goat?! David has three runners this afternoon and they all contest the valuable 3m2f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot - they are top weight Ennistown, Three Star General (pictured above) and Lady Of Longstone.

There are two jumps meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from York and a jumps meeting from Fontwell. David runs two at Fontwell with Ramses de Teillee and Bambi du Noyer contesting the 2m3f handicap hurdle at 4pm. Ramses de Teillee showed some good form in his first season with the stable last term and rounded of the campaign with a very respectable sixth in the EBF Final at Sandown - it is his first start for 183 days but he would not be without a chance under Tom Scudamore. Meanwhile, Bambi du Noyer has been in consistent form this season, finishing placed on each occasion and he is weighted to go well once again under David Noonan.
