Red Square Revival runs at Newton Abbot

Today there are six meetings, flat cards at Sandown, Chester, Beverley, Chelmsford and Hamilton plus a jumps card at Newton Abbot.  Newton Abbot has great prize money on offer with £100,000 up for grabs.  David has one runner, Red Square Revival in the 5.10pm race, a 3m2f novice handicap chase.  He carries top weight of 12 stone on his chasing debut. He won a good ground bumper last year on his debut at Worcester.  His hurdling career did not quite go to plan after but he has had a nice long break, grown up a lot and this step up in trip should suit and even with top weight he only runs off a mark of 102 and he should be competitive.  Tom Scu rides.

There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Thirsk and Sandown as well as a jumps fixture from Bangor.  There are no runners from Pond House today.  What about want away West Ham striker Diafra Sakho?  It was the final day of the transfer window yesterday so he turned up at Chelmsford City races to see his manager, Mark Mckay's horse win the 3.20pm race.  He chartered a private jet to get back from France...I wonder if he won a few quid on Siege of Boston?  These private jets do not come cheap...it should have been called Siege of West Ham!

Today we have five meetings taking place with flat cards from Chelmsford City, Musselburgh, Bath and Wolverhampton as well as a National Hunt card from Sedgefield.  David does not have any runners today although he was arguable a shade unlucky at Worcester last night with Keating unseating Tom Scudamore at the final flight when in a share of the lead and still in with every chance.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Catterick, Musselburgh, Lingfield and Kempton while there is jumps action from Worcester. David has one runner this evening with Keating (pictured above) representing the yard in the 2m4f novices' handicap hurdle at 6.35pm. He acquitted himself nicely on his debut for the stable when a close fourth at Newton Abbot over two miles and he looks as though this step up in trip will suit. A big run is expected under Tom Scudamore.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Epsom, Ripon and Carlisle while there is a jumps fixture from Newton Abbot.  David has two runners at Newton today with Midnight Magic contesting the 2m2 1/2f maiden hurdle at 5.35pm and Aldrin (pictured above) who makes his handicap debut at 6.35pm.  Midnight Magic finished fourth last time but will need to improve again to land this.  Aldrin was a fair flat performer and he already looks like a better hurdler, winning in good style at Bangor last time.  There is room for improvement in his jumping but an opening mark of 113 does not look out of the way and he looks to have a good chance of following-up despite top weight.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners.

Today we have five meetings, flat cards at Epsom, Ripon, Chepstow and Southwell plus a jumps card at Cartmel.  Believe it or not, Cartmel actually has the most prize money on offer with £91,000 up for grabs.  A brilliant effort from the racecourse.  I cannot believe that the Irish Jockey Club did not do anything to Davy Russell.  Lots of people have said to me that it has given racing a bad image and this is the sort of publicity racing does not want.  So it says to me that the people that run horse racing in Ireland think it is alright to punch a horse?!

There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon, all on the flat with the action coming from Goodwood, Yarmouth and Beverley. It is a shame that there is no jump racing on considering it is a Bank Holiday weekend.  Torbay is just packed with people at present - think how many of those would have gone to a fixture at Newton Abbot if one had been on.
