This afternoon there are just two meetings taking place with a couple of National Hunt fixtures from Huntingdon and Sedgefield. David has one runner this afternoon at Sedgefield as Bella (pictured above) makes the long trip north for the mares' handicap hurdle qualifier. She has already had a stellar season and David has placed her particularly well to win three times, picking up plenty of good prize money in the process. She has to shoulder the burden of top weight although she should go well once again in the hands of Tom Scudamore. There was snow on the track at Wetherby and Doncaster yesterday so let's hope that Sedgefield manage to avoid the worst of the elements this afternoon.

There is a busy day of action ahead with five meetings taking place with Kelso, Doncaster, Newbury and Stratford hosting jumps fixtures while there is a supporting card on the all-weather at Lingfield. The stable has runners at Doncaster and Newbury and it looks like a typical Saturday with plenty of very competitive racing. Fingertips (pictured above) runs in the 2.35pm race at Doncaster and he ran a very good race for one so young when runner-up to Different Gravey at Ascot and a reproduction of that effort would see him go close under Daryl Jacob. Meanwhile there are five runners at Newbury with Ikrapol, Shotavodka, Houston Dynimo, Rathealy and Gabrial The Great representing the yard - as I say, it is a tough day and any winners would be welcomed.

What a good day for the stable yesterday with an across the card double courtesy of Top Wood at Leicester and Vazaro Delafayette at Taunton. Top Wood (pictured above) won by 16 lengths in the hands of Conor O'Farrell and he jumped and travelled very well on this step back up in trip with the blinkers back on. He could go to the Cheltenham Festival or even the Midlands Grand National later in the month and a good run wouldn't be out of the question if he turned up in the same sort of form. At Taunton Vazaro Delafayette (pictured below) may have been a shade fortunate to land the novices' handicap chase under Tom Scudamore - he was left in the lead before two out but was only ever doing just enough thereafter. As I said only yesterday, sometimes you just need a bit of luck in this game.

The stable had a nice winner at Wincanton when La Vaticane ran out an easy winner of the 2m4f handicap chase at Wincanton yesterday. It wouldn't have been so easy had Vic de Touzaine not unseated Aidan Coleman two out when upsides and mounting a serious challenge. La Vaticane could just have been idling a bit in front, but one thing is for sure...we will take the result. Sometimes you just need a bit of luck. The mare could now go to the Cheltenham Festival in a fortnight where she has engagements in several of the handicaps over a variety of distances.

David produced a good training performance yesterday to get Abracadabra to win on his first start for the stable when getting the better of odds-on favourite Lockstockandbarrel in the novices' chase at Leicester. I reckon the commentators must have been reading my blog as he said "David Pipe has worked his magic on Abracadabra Sivola!" He jumped pretty well in the main and outbattled the favourite in the closing stages under a good ride from Tom Scudamore. He looks like a nice staying chaser in the making so hopefully he can build on this promise and go on to better things.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Leicester and Catterick as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield. The stable has a couple of runners at Leicester; Abracadabra Sivola and Spending Time, while Purple 'N Gold runs on the level at Lingfield and will be partnered by Dougie Costello. Tom Scudamore is aboard our pair of jumpers and I wonder if he will be able to make the opposition disappear on Abracadabra? He has some decent form in the book and could go well with a clear round of jumping, while Spending Time needs to improve on his most recent efforts but David has found a decent opportunity for him.

Today we have three meetings taking place with jumps cards at Ayr and Plumpton as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Wolverhampton. The stable has no runners this afternoon although Tom Scudamore travels to Plumpton this afternoon where he has picked up three rides for David Bridgwater and they all appear to have decent chances. Saffron Prince looks like the best of them.
