There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumping action from Lingfield and Southwell as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. David does not have and runners today although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels to Southwell where he has picked up a couple of outside rides while conditional jockey David Noonan goes to Lingfield for one ride - I wish them all the best, although they may do well to find a winner today.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Plumpton and Ayr as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Southwell. The prize money seems to be getting worse and worse with £35,000 up for grabs at Ayr and only £30,000 at Southwell - no wonder David heads to Plumpton! He runs Stay Out Of Court in the 3.20pm race - a conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle; a 3m1f handicap hurdle for conditional jockeys. He has plenty of decent placed form and he looks to have sound prospects once again - David Noonan takes the ride.

There are two jumps cards today at Fontwell and Sedgefield. Tom Scu goes to Fontwell and has some good rides. Tickapick for the Tizzard's in the 3.40pm looks to have a good chance. There is also a cracking card from Leopardstown today. It is the Willie Mullins show with Faugheen returning to action in the 3.30pm Irish Champion hurdle. It is his first run for 371 days but Mullins says his superstar is ready to rock, "he's taking on some race fit horses so it will be interesting to see how he goes", mind you Mullins does have three of the five runners!

Un Temps Pour Tout runs in the Cleeve Hurdle
There are five meetings today, jumps cards at Cheltenham, Doncaster and Uttoxeter plus flat cards at Kempton and Lingfield. The biggest racing is of course from Cheltenham and David has four runners there, Champers On Ice, Ballynagour, Un Temps Pour Tout and Max do Brazil. This looks like a Cheltenham festival card! Champers on Ices runs in the 12.35pm 2m5f novice handicap chase. There are 14 runners and it looks a very competitive field. He was second over three miles last time out, only his second chase start. The drop back in trip is a slight concern but we have had a nice drop of rain overnight and it could be a test of stamina this afternoon. I think he has each way claims.

There is a busy day ahead even though Huntingdon have abandoned their meeting following an early morning inspection. There are still four fixtures taking place with Doncaster (also inspecting) will be joined by a further jumps fixture from Taunton while there are all-weather flat cards from Lingfield and Doncaster. David has six runners at Taunton. More importantly, did I mention that it is my birthday today? As you can see from the photograph above, I am still cutting a dash in the fashion stakes - not bad for a 72 year old, eh?!

Hopefully there will be three meetings taking place this afternoon although Warwick's jumps card needs to pass an early morning inspection. Meanwhile there are all-weather flat fixtures from Southwell and Wolverhampton. If Warwick does get the green light David will have three runners; Ballywilliam, Midnight Magic and Mister Drifter. Ballywilliam (pictured above) contests the 3m2f handicap hurdle at 2.35pm - he will need to perform better than when pulling up last time out but had previously won at Uttoxeter on heavy ground - if he can bounce back to that sort of form he would not be without a chance. Midnight Magic makes his racecourse debut in the first division of the bumper at 3.45pm - there are winners in the race and it looks a competitive contest. He goes nicely at home but is sure to learn plenty for the experience. Mr Drifter is our last runner in the second division of the bumper at 4.20pm - he performed creditably on his first start in a Uttoxeter race that is working out very well and he could run well - Tom Scudamore is aboard all three.

David couldn't fly to Wetherby yesterday because of the fog and he duly missed a winner when Mr Big Shot ran out a very impressive winner of the National Hunt novices' hurdle. He still looked to be as green as grass on only his second ever racecourse start but he clearly has an abundance of latent ability. He should improve further with experience and given that he has the build and pedigree of a staying chaser, to win a bumper and a two mile hurdle suggests that he is another very exciting prospect for owner Caroline Tisdall. As you can see from the photograph above, he is a handsome chap - Mr Big Shot that is, not Ashley Farrant!
