There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with action coming from Kempton, Brighton and Wolverhampton while there is also a jumps card from Worcester. Time to shame Brighton once again as they offer a miserly £30,000 for their seven race card. Meanwhile David has four runners at Worcester this afternoon; Red Square Revival, Kalifourchon, Perspicace and Baby Sherlock so it is going to be a busy day.

This afternoon there are three meetings taking place on the flat with action from Bath, Ffos Las and Chelmsford City. Mind you, the best card once again looks to be in Ireland with Group 1 and 2 races taking place at the Curragh. It looks like some of our jockeys agree with the likes of Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore extending their stay from yesterday.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Doncaster, Chester, Bath, Lingfield and Musselburgh. The main event is the final Classic of the flat season with the St Leger from Doncaster and they have really pushed the boat out with over £1 million in prize money up for grabs across their card. Good as that sounds, Leopardstown have over £2 million on offer for their Irish Champion Stakes card! Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori and William Buick have all decided to go to Ireland to compete.

Another day without jumps racing as we look forward to Doncaster, Chester, Sandown and Salisbury on the level. There are a couple of Group 2 races on the Doncaster card and the one that really interests me is the Doncaster Cup over 2m2f at 3.40pm. This is a race that Martin won a few years ago now with a good horse called Far Cry who went on to finish an unlucky runner-up in the Ascot Gold Cup the following year. Anyway, I digress...Willie Mullins runs Clondaw Warrior in the race and the booking of Ryan Moore looks significant. The horse has been busy as he last ran in America and don't forget he is a useful National Hunt horse to boot - it should certainly make for interesting viewing.

This afternoon there are four meetings taking place and they are all on the flat with action coming from Doncaster, Epsom, Chepstow and Chelmsford City. It is the second day of the St Leger meeting from Doncaster and they have pushed the boat out by putting up over £1/2 million in prize money. The big race is a two year old stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs with £300,000 up for grabs - unsurprisingly it has drawn a bumper field of 22 runners...I might buy a lottery ticket rather than try to pick the winner of this race! Summer is over for another year (did it ever really start?!) but there are still gaps in the jumping programme with no National Hunt action now until Monday - you know my thoughts on that!

What a performance yesterday from travelling head lad Bob Hodge! He did a great job in getting Worcester winner Iniciar to jump off having looked a little reluctant at the start. Of course Iniciar and Daryl Jacob did the rest, but Bob was certainly the unsung hero of the hour. The application of first time blinkers certainly seemed to bring about some improvement as our gelding came home 11 lengths clear, albeit driven right out by his rider. Iniciar has plenty of ability but clearly has a few of his own ideas and I reckon this was a great training performance by David.

This afternoon there are four meetings taking place with flat action from Leicester and Redcar while we are spoiled with two jumps fixtures from Worcester and Perth. David has two runners at Worcester; Iniciar and Awesome Tunes. Iniciar (pictured above) contests the 3.10pm race and our six year old is making his first start back from a break - he was a winner at Carlisle on good/soft ground but is still higher in the weights than for that success and will need to come right back to form under Daryl Jacob. Meanwhile, Awesome Tunes finished behind Trafalgar Rock at Uttoxeter in June although this step up in trip is expected to bring about some improvement in our ex-Irish point-to-point winner. Tom Scudamore rides.
