There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Chelmsford City and Brighton as well as a jumps fixture from Worcester.  David runs two at Worcester - recent recruit Dauphine Ereine and Twentytwo's Taken.  Dauphine Ereine is a half-sister to Dynaste who has won her last three starts in the French provinces and she only has 10-2 in the handicap chase.  I can't imagine Tom would have stopped for a takeaway on the way home from racing yesterday!  She looks likely to go off favourite and with a clear round of jumping she should go close.  Twentytwo's Taken was a ready winner at Exeter and was still going well when hitting the deck next time and she might just have been remembering that when disappointing last time so hopefully she can take a step back in the right direction.

The stable was on the mark again yesterday with David's only runner, For 'N' Against obliging in the 2m7 1/2f handicap chase at Bangor.  He was officially 5lbs ahead of the handicapper following his good second the previous week so he was entitled to go close.  He has been in good form of late and this trip looks to be ideal for him, although a stiffer track might suit even better as Tom had to drive him right out.  His jumping will certainly stand him in good stead once his new rating kicks in and hopefully he can continue his rate of improvement.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with action on the flat coming from York, Sandown, Salisbury and Wolverhampton while there is a jumps fixture from Bangor.  David has one runner this afternoon; For 'N' Against (pictured above) who runs in the three mile handicap chase at 3.20pm.  He ran a good race to finish runner-up at Worcester last week and runs from the same mark of 117 - he is due to go up 5lbs in future handicaps so he is theoretically 'well-in' here and a similar level of form will see him go close under stable jockey Tom Scudamore.

The stable enjoyed a good evening at Worcester last night with Skylander winning the 2m7f handicap hurdle.  Michael Heard managed to force his head in front on the line under a good ride, with his 5lbs claim making all the difference between winning and losing.  Perspicace also ran creditably under top-weight to claim third under Tom Scudamore.  They shouldn't go up too much in the handicap for this...famous last words!

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from York, Carlisle, Chepstow and Kempton as well as a National Hunt fixture from Worcester.  The big fixture of the day is at York and winning owners are in for a real treat with over £1 million in prize money on offer - not bad for a Wednesday!  The highlight is the Juddmonte International at 3.40pm - a Group 1 contest over 1m2 1/2f.  As you would expect it has drawn a high-class field and the improving three year old Hawkbill could be interesting at likely odds of around 9/2.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Ripon, Kempton, Leicester and Wolverhampton.  They say it is a long way to Tipperary but if you do make the effort you will be rewarded with the most prize money - there is also some jumping action to boot.  I see that Coolmore have been splashing out again as they have signed off £1.4 million for a Galileo half-sister to Chicquite.  At first I thought that it seemed like an awful lot of money and then I thought about how it compared to a football transfer and that sort of money would just about get you the ice cream seller!  It puts everything into perspective.

Back to a blank day on the jumps front with just three meetings on the flat to look forward to from Chelmsford City, Thirsk and Windsor.  At least there was some jumping yesterday with Gabrial The Great turning recent form with War Singer around again, although it wasn't enough to get his head in front as he ran a creditable third in the novices' chase.  Meanwhile, Purple 'N Gold ran his usual honest race to finish a close fourth in the valuable handicap chase and will probably go up another 1 or 2lbs in the handicap.  He has won from 130 but a mark of 135 seems a few pounds too high - sadly that is the price you pay for consistency.
