What a great day for the stable yesterday with no fewer than five winners coming from our eighteen runners across four meetings and under five different jockeys at a strike rate of 28%! Not to mention a further six of our runners reaching the frame. The higlight of the day was obviously Dynaste (pictured above) who produced yet another performance out of the top drawer to win the Grade One Feltham Novices' Chase in effortless fashion and in the process extend his unbeaten record over fences to three. I thought that Grands Crus also produced a good performance to finish third in the feature King George VI Chase on the card after a less than ideal preparation.

Grands Crus
I hope everyone had a very happy Christmas day but this is the by far the best day for me with all the sporting action taking place! There are many meetings on this afternoon plus all the football matches as well. I am pleased to report that despite all the rain all the meetings have passed their inspections and racing is ON! The yard started early and is very busy this morning with the stable having runners at six meetings and I can tell you it was quite a task to make sure all the horses and the staff set off in the right lorries to the right races! We were of course busy yesterday on Christmas day and I am pleased to be able to show a little video clip of the Christmas morning gallops with todays runners in action and when the staff wear their santa hats and get in the Festive spirit! Well, Happy Christmas to all our friends, owners and followers. I hope that you have a lovely day but I still can't wait for tomorrow's action! The stable could conceivably have twenty-two runners on Boxing Day – it is certainly going to be a very busy time for the box drivers – mind you, all of the staff will be kept busy over the Christmas period as all the horses still need to exercised, groomed, mucked out, fed and watered – there is no holiday for people working with animals during this time. There is no racing taking place now until Boxing Day (and that includes in Ireland!), but what a bumper day of action it promises to be with nine meetings scheduled to take place, weather permitting. Although Huntingdon has been lost to the elements there could still be eight meetings over the sticks at Fontwell, Ffos Las, Kempton, Market Rasen, Sedgefield, Towcester, Wetherby and Wincanton as well as the usual all-weather flat card at Wolverhampton. The highlight is the King George and David will be represented by Grands Crus (pictured above winning at the corresponding meeting last year) and Junior who was supplemented last week. Dynaste will take his chance in the Grade One Feltham Novices' Chase and you can see a Christmas greeting video from him on the next page.

There is no racing in this country today as we take our annual Christmas break, the next action coming at Kempton on Boxing Day. However there is a meeting taking place in Ireland as Thurles carries the baton. The ground there surprisingly(!) is going to be really heavy. I'm surprised there isn't an all-weather card on at Lingfield - they seem to race there every day!

Well despite further heavy rain overnight the signs for racing today are looking positive with Haydock passing an early morning inspection - the stable has one runner at the meeting with Conor O'Farrell partnering Top Wood. One thing is for sure, the ground is sure to be very testing. There are three other meetings taking place with Ascot hosting an excellent jumps card featuring the Ladbroke Hurdle, while there are all-weather flat meetings taking place at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. We have five runners at Ascot - Kazlian (pictured above) and Dan Breen in the big one, as well as Wings Of Icarus, My Brother Sylvest and El Lobo. The bottomless ground will no doubt sort out plenty of the fields today, so whatever you do make sure your horse is going to handle heavy going.

What a good performance from Shaking Hands to land the staying handicap chase at Towcester yesterday on bottomless ground. Under a good ride from Tom Scudamore he made every yard of the running and was never headed - he has always been a resolute galloper and coped well with the heavy going on this very stiff track. It was somewhat reminiscent of Master Overseer last week, not least that he was carrying the same colours (which stayed very clean!) of Brocade Racing who are enjoying a good run of form. I think that Shaking Hands must be about the only one who loves the rain coming down! Purple 'N Gold ran respectably in third place at Kempton last night and perhaps a drop back in trip could be the answer for him?
