The yard enjoyed a winner with our only runner at Stratford yesterday afternoon when Beattie Green (pictured above) made virtually all the running to land the selling hurdle under a good ride from young Conor O'Farrell.  The drying good ground seemed to suit her well and I would imagine that she will be kept on the go while such conditions prevail.

We have one runner this afternoon, Katchmore, who bids to extend his unbeaten run for the stable to three at Newton Abbot.  Things will be tougher from a 21lbs higher mark, but he still has further scope for improvement and young Tom Bellamy is good value for his 7lbs claim.  Newton Abbot hosts the only jumps card of the day, although there are four other meetings taking place on the level with Redcar, Windsor, Leicester and Wolverhampton.

There is three meetings today, a flat card at Ripon plus two over the sticks at Stratford and Market Rasen.  David has three runners and Tom Scudamore goes to Market Rasen to ride Spirit of Barbados and Clever Dick.  Spirit of Barbados goes in the 3.30pm and made a pleasing debut over the larger obastacle when finsihing third at Ffos Las last time.  He carries top weight but will like conditions and he should run well.  Clever Dick is making his chasing debut in the 4pm novice handicap chase.  He won a hurdle race at Taunton last season and has been schooling well at home so we are hoping that he also runs well.  Beattie Green runs in the seller at Stratford and Conor O'Farrell is in the saddle.

David does not have any runners today but it is a busy day for racing with six meetings on around the country.  We have the flat racing at Newbury, Newmarket, Thirsk and Doncaster and two jumps meetings at Bangor and Uttoxeter.  What surprises me is how quick the ground seems to be drying out everywhere.  Some of the going reports now say good to firm!  After all that rain we have had and talk of floods it seems funny that we have got to this stage of going already although I guess at this time of year things do dry up pretty quickly.  All eyes today will be on the 3.40pm race at Newbury where the Henry Cecil trained superstar Frankel puts is unbeaten credentials on the line.  He has pacemaker Bullet Train also in the line up and Aidan O'Brien brings over a top class miler in Excelebration.  Marco Botti trained this horse last year and Frankel will have to be at the top of his game to win but it looks a fascianting race and I hope the Champ comes out on top as that will be good for racing.

The stable runner Qalinas performed creditably last night to finish a close third in the novices' handicap hurdle at Ludlow.  He was only beaten four lengths from a mark of 107 and he looks to be well capable of winning a race or two, particularly when stepped up in trip.  Tom Scudamore went on to ride a double on the night aboard Coronea Lilly and Vegas Cash - talk about London bus syndrome, you wait 937 days for a Ludlow winner and then two turn up at once!  I thought that Rebecca Curtis' bumper winner Vegas Cash looked very useful in beating a well regarded runner of Nicky Henderson's and he looks sure to go on to better things.

Qalinas is the sole runner from the yard this evening - he takes part in the 6.05pm race and will be ridden by Tom Scudamore.  He is yet to get his head in front, but does boast some very useful placed form including behind the likes of Brampour and it is surely only a matter of time before he picks up a race.  There are six meetings on throughout the country today, with York, Newmarket and Salisbury hosting flat cards and jumping taking place at Perth, Ludlow and Folkestone.

We had just the one runner at Wincanton yesterday as Cabora took in the mares' novices' hurdle.  Although she couldn't win, she showed a deal of ability to finish third behind two useful opponents and it looked to me as though she might well appreciate a longer trip and softer ground.  She was a decisive winner on very soft ground at Auteuil on her previous start and she should be more than capable of winning races in the coming months.

It's a very busy day for a Tuesday with no fewer than five meetings taking place - two on the flat at Beverley and Kempton and three over the sticks at Wincanton, Hereford and Southwell.  The stable only has one runner at Wincanton, Cabora, a new French recruit who was successful last time at big odds at Auteuil.  Our four year old filly is partnered this afternoon by Timmy Murphy for his boss David Johnson.
