There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, two of them over the sticks at Bangor and Wincanton as well as all-weather flat fixtures at Lingfield and Kempton. The stable has two runners at Wincanton, Prasina Russata and Vif Argent who both need to improve on recent efforts. Having said that, they are both relatively lightly raced and have the potential to improve if putting their best feet forward. Prasina Russata (pictured above left) had finished runner-up in a point-to-point so this longer trip should suit him - stable jockey Tom Scudamore is aboard them both.

The stable was among the winners again yesterday as Virtuel d'Oudon, making his debut for the stable and our only runner of the day at Plumpton was successful in the bumper. The former Irish point-to-point winner made all and kept finding more in the straight under a good front running ride from Tom Scudamore...his father would have been proud! Virtuel d'Oudon looks like a shrewd purchase from between the flags and should make a nice hurdler/chaser in time. I was fascinated to see the Racing Post statistic about David's recent record in bumpers at the track - his form reads 113111...not bad at all! Another to keep in mind over the coming weeks is Oliver Sherwood's Exitas who put in an eye catching performance on his racecourse debut to finish third.

Buddy Bolero scores at Chepstow
(pic by kind permission www.thejockey.co.uk)
It was another good weekend for the stable following two winners at Chepstow on Saturday. I thought that young Tom Bellamy gave Poole Master a fine ride to get him up close home in the two mile handicap chase from favourite Grey Gold. He really seems to have come to himself of late and this was a good performance to win from a mark of 139 and he still appears to be on the upgrade. Meanwhile another of our conditionals, Kieron Edgar gave Buddy Bolero a good ride to win the Pertemps handicap hurdle qualifier. Over at Newcastle Consigliere ran another fine race under top weight to finish second in the handicap chase and our spritely veteran showed that he is no back number just yet.

On tha Gallops
Today there are two jumps cards at Towcester and Fontwell. David just has the one, first time out runner in the Bumper at Fontwell, Face to Face. I see that Tom Scu is riding at Towcester and then making the dash to Fontwell to ride our runner. He will not drive over 70mph just in case Mr Plod is reading our web page! There is a good race on the Fontwell card, the £28,000 National Spirit hurdle. This is great prize money for a Sunday Fontwell meeting and to me it looks easy money for Saphir Du Rheu and Paul Nicholls.

Legacy Gold - Exeter
Today we have three jumps cards at Kempton, Chepstow, and Newcastle plus a flat card at Lingfield. David has runners at all three jumps meetings. Our lorry went up to Newcastle yesterday with three runners, Edmund Kean, Junior and Consigliere. Tom Scu makes the long journey up North. Edmund Kean has won his last two starts over fences and will handle the heavy going. He has to give weight away to his three rivals but he was the best of these over hurdles should take all the beating and a big run is expected. Tom also rides veteran Consigliere who has top weight but is coming back to form and was a good second last time out at Sedgefield. The third placed horse that day, Tranquil Sea won at Doncaster earlier this week so the form looks good. He will love the ground and the trip and should go well.

What a great day for the stable yesterday with two winners from two runners at two meetings! Shotavodka won with a fair amount in hand at Huntingdon despite showing a tendancy to jump left at his fences. Champion jockey A P McCoy said that he was better when he had some company and it would be no surprise to see David go the other way around with him next time while a longer trip will also be well within his compass. Meanwhile, over at Sedgefield I thought that Vieux Lion Rouge put up a good performance under Tom Scudamore to give 21lbs and a beating to a useful ex-French horse in Prince Khurram. He will certainly win more hurdle races, although I can't wait to see him go over fences!

Baltimore Rock was a ready winner of the two mile handicap hurdle at Ludlow yesterday afternoon under Tom Scudamore. He looks as though there is still a little room for improvement in his jumping, but he looks progressive and possesses decent turn of foot and looks to be a useful prospect. It is good to see the stable in such good form with eight winners and five places from David's last twenty-five runners over the past fortnight. Cheltenham really can't come quickly enough!
