Vision De Maine runs at Exeter Today

While Ffos Las was abandoned yesterday due to waterlogging, Exeter has passed its morning inspection and racing goes ahead.  We had 12mm of rain here at Pond House last night while Exeter had 18mm of rain and the ground is now heavy.  We have five runners there and our quintet is made up of Eton Mes, Way Of Stars, Vision De Maine, River Run Free and Saccary and all are being ridden by Jack Tudor.  Eton Mes gets us underway in the opening 13 runner maiden hurdle at 12.30pm.  He was fourth on his hurdling debut at Chepstow last time showing promise and hopefully he can build on that today and again finish in the first four.  It was 2m3f last time which we thought would suit but actually he didn't see out the trip as well as we imagined.  I think he will appreciate the return to two miles today and he won't mind the ground.  The top two in the betting will be hard to beat but he is a good each way price of 12/1 to get in the frame.

Neon Moon runs at Ludlow Today

There are two jumps meetings today and thankfully Ludlow passed it's morning inspection, racing goes ahead and we have two runners there.  Newbury is the other jumps card while there are two flat meetings at Lingfield and Kempton and in Ireland they race on the all-weather at Dundalk.  Ludlow were inspecting after an overnight frost was predicted but their temperature did not get as low as anticipated and there are no problems ahead of racing.  We had freezing temperatures at the yard yesterday evening but have woken to much warmer conditions and heavy rain is on the way!

It is a slightly quieter day on the racing front today with just two jumps meetings at Carlisle and Southwell.  In Ireland they have one jumps meeting at Navan and the stable does not have any runners.  Carlisle is now an all hurdles card following the abandonment of the chases after the entry stage due to the chase track being waterlogged.  The Navan card is an all EBF card which means the races are restricted to horses who's stallions are registered under the European Breeders Fund scheme.  We have this of course in Britain and there are a lot of novice hurdle qualifiers for a big final at Sandown in March.  From my experience most stallions do seem to be registered under this scheme, more than they used to be and it is now more unusual to have one not registered than registered!

King Turgeon Runner at Cheltenham Today

We head to Cheltenham today with two runners, a king and a queen and it is very exciting to have two good chances at the home of jumps racings.  Kingston Queen and King Turgeon, a pair of greys are our representatives today and I passed our lorry on my way into work this morning.  Both are ridden by Jack Tudor.  Kingston Queen runs in the opening 2m1f novices hurdle on the card at 12.05pm and she is towards the head of the betting but it looks a very strong race, full of young talent.  She has top class bumper form on her record from last season and she made the perfect starting to her hurdling career by winning at Chepstow last month, beating a couple of nice horses who have both come out and won since so the form is strong.  She drops back in trip today which shouldn't be a problem and she will handle the track.  She is a horse I love for her attitude and nature and she lives next door to my horse so I love seeing her every morning!  She is hugely exciting and I hope she can show us her true form and win today but it will be tough.
