There is just one jumps meeting today in Scotland, at Musselburgh and we do not have any runners. There is one all-weather flat card at Lingfield while in Ireland they race over jumps at Punchestown. We do however have one point to point and a very special other runner today at Buckfastleigh.

Jilaijone Runs at Ascot Today
There are three good jumps meetings today at Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton and we have three runners at two of those meetings. Jilaijone is our first runner of the day and he goes in the 1.15pm handicap hurdle over 2m7f and Freddie Mitchell, claiming five rides. This will be his first try at this distance but I think he has shaped like he will stay and I think he has a good each way chance. He is always very consistent and got a deserved victory last time out over 2m4f at Uttoxeter. The handicapper was quick to raise his rating up again which is why we are claiming off him today. It will be the jockey’s first ride for us but he has been riding plenty of winners for the Gary and Josh Moore team, including one at Sandown on Thursday. It is a big field, competitive contest but our six year old has run well at the track before and will like the ground conditions not too testing so hopefully he can run a big race.

River Run Free Winner at Leicester
River Run Free won for the second time over fences at Leicester yesterday following up his chasing debut win at Lingfield last time. He once again travelled and jumped well throughout and made smooth progress to win quite cosily on the run in. This win was from a six pound higher mark and I am sure the handicapper will put him up a few more pounds for this but I would hope his rating will stay in the 80s with more progress to come. He handles testing conditions well, jumps very neatly and accurately and should improve for a slightly stiffer test in stamina as well in due course. He is a six year old to stay on the right side of and the good new is that he is well this morning. He doesn't have any immediate entries or plans but we will see how he is in the coming days and go from there.

River Run Free Runs at Leicester Today
There are three jumps meetings today at Sandown, Newcastle and Leicester and we have one runner at the latter, River Run Free. He runs in the 2m4f novices handicap chase and Jack Tudor rides. He won on chasing and handicap debut at Lingfield last time over the same trip on similar ground and we are hoping for a repeat today. The handicapper raised him six pounds for that win which looks fair and I hope there is more improvement to come. It is probably fair to say we were not totally expecting that performance last time despite what it may have looked like but he loved jumping the fences and quickened up nicely on some testing ground. He is even money favourite today but there is a useful looking rival in opposition, the Laura Morgan trained, We Got Your Back who has won his last two starts. He looks an improving horse and the race looks to be between the two, fingers crossed we can come out on top! These colours were in the winners enclosure on the flat at Kempton last night so let's hope they can be again today.

Lock Out Runs at Hereford Today
There are two jumps meetings today at Wetherby and Hereford and we have representatives at each. American Sniper travels back to Wetherby where he finished third on Boxing today under today's jockey, Callum Pritchard. He did travel to Doncaster last week which was called off when we got there but fingers crossed there will be no problems today. He runs in the 4.13pm handicap hurdle over 2m3f. You could argue he may appreciate a slightly greater test of stamina but he will be fine over this trip. Callum takes off a handy five pounds and I think he has a good each way chance at about 8/1.
