American Sniper runs today!

We were due to have runners at two different meetings today but unfortunately Warwick has been abandoned this morning due to unsafe going . Therefore we are left with five runners at our local track, Taunton. Our quintet is made up of Chauffeur Driven, Time Interval, Bumpy Johnson, American Sniper and Bashful Boy.

          Kepagge runs today at Leicester.

Today we have three runners, two at Leicester and one more locally at Exeter.  Kepagge and Royal Mer travel to Leicestershire and were on the road early this morning while it is a little later leave for Lock Out who heads to Exeter.  Kepagge runs for the second time over fences in the 1.35pm novices handicap chase over 2m4f and Jack Tudor rides.  He is a previous course winner over hurdles and will enjoy the testing conditions this afternoon.  He ran well enough on chasing debut last time at Ffos Las and has come on for that run.  There are only five runners but it is a tricky little contest and they all have a chance.  I wouldn’t swap our fella however and hope he can run well at 9/2.

    King Turgeon one of our
          4 runners today!

Today we have four runners at Wincanton, a meeting put on by the BHA after all the recent abandonments in recent days due to the weather.  Our quartet of runners is made up of Lady Balko, King Turgeon, Sizing Pottsie and Kingofthewest.  Lady Balko runs in the opening contest on the card, a novices hurdle over two miles at 12.45pm with Jack Tudor riding.  Our mare is an Irish point to point winner who has ran okay in two similar races to today so far.  It is a big runner field and she may struggle to get involved with the principals in this but she will at least get a handicap mark and is probably more for the future rather than today.

Shot Boii Runs today at Lingfield

Today we have two runners, one in Scotland and one in England!! Phantomofthepoints has made the long journey north, while Shot Boii travels East to Lingfield. Phantomofthepoints runs in the 12.20pm maiden hurdle over two miles and Jack Tudor rides. He made a pleasing stable debut to be second at Ffos Las in a bumper and runs for the first time over hurdles. He also ran well in a bumper in Ireland and our five year old, out of our former very good mare, Swing Bowler will hopefully improve even more for tackling obstacles. He is a gorgeous big horse who shows a good attitude and jumps well so fingers crossed he can put up a good performance. There are a couple of very good horses in opposition today but I don’t see why he won’t be in the mix at 8/1.

     Jurancon winning at Chepstow Saturday

It was great to end racing on Saturday with a winner at Chepstow thanks to Jurancon winning the bumper under Gearoid Harney. Our four year old was making his stable and bumper debut after winning an Irish point to point for Colin Bowe and he couldn’t have been anymore impressive, pulling away from his rivals from over one furlong from home. He shows a lovely attitude at home and revelled in the soft conditions. While I’m not sure of future plans as to whether be may tackle another bumper or go hurdling, one thing for sure is he is a very exciting prospect for the future.

Sidi Ismael runs today in the
                Becher Chase
All being well today we have five runners across three different meetings but once again the weather could disrupt our best made plans.  There is a 7.30am inspection at Chepstow this morning and providing it passes this we have two runners, Vision De Maine and Jurancon.  Sidi Ismael travels to Aintree for the Becher Chase while we have two runners at Sandown, Brinkley and Jilaijone.

The weather continues to disrupt the jumps race programme at present with both Exeter and Sedgefield abandoned today and Wetherby already called off for Saturday.  We were due to have three runners at Exeter and they did call a 7.30am Friday morning inspection originally but actually called it off before lunch time yesterday.  We were very wet in the west country yesterday and the course was waterlogged with no chance of significant improvement before racing. That sadly leaves us will no runners today and just the one jumps meeting at Sandown.
