Pachacuti after winning at Wincanton!
It was another great winner for the team yesterday with Pachacuti winning for the first time over fences at Wincanton.  Handy to the lead thoughout, he jumped and travelled very well but just as they were about to make the turn out of the back straight Jack had to nudge him along a little, so I got a little worried but he came straight back on the bridle and a super jump at the cross fence put him just back in front again.  He responded well to Jack’s urging all the way up the straight and jumped well and was able to pull a few lengths clear of the favourite approaching the last fence.

     Pachacuti runs today at Wincanton!
Today we have one runner at Wincanton, Pachacuti who runs in the 3.35pm handicap chase over three miles and Jack Tudor rides.  I think he has got better with each run this season over fences and it would be great if he could record his first victory over the larger obstacles this afternoon.  He was second last time out at Ffos Las in a similar race and the form of that race looks strong with the fourth horse, Pimlico Point winning at Exeter last week.  He is 5/2 second best in the betting the track and ground will be fine and I think he has a good chance.

     Activist wins at Plumpton yesterday!
Activist was our 31st winner of the season yesterday at Plumpton ridden by Jack Tudor. It was lovely to get our five-year-olds first win over hurdles and confirm the promise he had shown in his latest start at Lingfield where he finished second. He has taken a little while to a acclimatise since coming over from France, but since an enforced break over the autumn/winter period he has returned in better form than ever. He bumped into a well treated rival last time, but it was nice to see him have his day in the limelight yesterday afternoon. It was a comfortable success in the end and hopefully the handicapper won’t overreact. He does have entries later this week but I think the plan is that he will not be taking up any of these engagements. He is fine after the race, but I don’t think the handicapper will be put up too much for the win so we will enjoy this success and wait for another day.

Only Fools runs at Plumpton Today

Hopefully today, there are two jumps meetings at Ayr and Plumpton and there is an all weather flat fixture at Wolverhampton as well. Plumpton does have to pass an 8am inspection however, with significant rain due Sunday night into Monday morning, fingers crossed racing goes ahead and the stable has two runners. Activist and Only Fools are intended runners at the Sussex track and Jack Tudor rides.

There are no runners for the stable today but hopefully there is one jumps fixture at Hereford this afternoon.  They were due to race at Fontwell with their feature National Spirit hurdle race but unfortunately that was abandoned a couple of days ago due to waterlogging. The is no flat racing in Britain today and in Ireland they have a jumps card at Naas.  Their feature race is the Grade 3 Newlands Chase at 2.55pm which features the return of Ferny Hollow who is returning from a 791 day absence but is a short priced favourite to make a winning return.

     Thanksforthehelp runs today!
Today we just have the one runner at Chepstow which is Thanksforthehelp, he runs in the 3:08pm Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 7½f with Jack Tudor riding. It hasn't been a smooth training behind the scenes, but today he returns to the race that he won last year. Yesterday, Exeter managed to give their race meeting the go ahead, after battling with the bad weather we've had recently. Heure De Gloire ran another solid race to finish 3rd in some very testing conditions, she enjoyed herself out in front and kept on galloping to the line. Sidi Ismael was very unlucky to fall at the 2nd which was a real shame, but he did actually end up then completing the whole distance by himself! Stray Bullet ran quite disappointingly at Wolverhampton last night, he travelled much better, but just didn't see out his race.

Sidi Ismael runs today in the Devon National!
Exeter must pass an 8am inspection for racing to go ahead today and if it does we have two runners at our most local Devon track, Heure De Gloire and Sidi Ismael.  Heure De Gloire makes a relatively quick reappearance after disappointing at Fontwell last week but she has come out of that run well and loves these conditions which is why we have decided to run her again quickly.  She has been to Fontwell three times in her career and has not really performed, so we have decided we probably won’t send her back there again!  Believe it or not, this will be her first visit to Exeter so hopefully she will like it today!

She runs in the 2.33pm mares handicap hurdle and Gearoid Harney rides taking off seven pounds.  There are only six runners and she is about 10/1 in the betting.  If she returns to the form of her penultimate run when she won at Ffos Las she has a good chance but she does have to bounce back from a lesser effort last time.  She will definitely handle the ground while some will not, so I shall keep  my fingers crossed!
