It is a slightly quieter day on the racing front today with just four meetings, three on the flat in Britain at Ffos Las, Catterick and Newbury and one meeting in Ireland, a jumps card at Roscommon this evening.  The stable does not have any runners.

Both the Galway Festival and Glorious Goodwood may be over for another year but it is a busy Monday on the racing front today.  Thee are four flat meetings at Ripon, Windsor, Carlisle and Lingfield and in Ireland they race at Naas on the flat and over jumps at Cork.  The stable does not have any runners.

Glorious Goodwood may be finished but we still have the final day of the Galway Festival this afternoon.  There is another cracking eight race mixed card to look forward to which gets underway at 1.50pm.  There are two flat meetings at Chester and Yarmouth while a lot of British and Irish trainers and jockeys are in action across in France at Deauville where they have some Group races.

We were delighted with Bashful by finishing fourth at Goodwood yesterday.  He was the outsider of the field but belied his odds (as I thought he might!) to run very well.  Take the winner out, there was not much between the placings and it was a good effort from our nine year old.  He runs with great credit in all these big races and he is a joy to have in the yard.  He got the each way money and some nice prize money for his owners and he deserves to get his head in front again soon.  Jack Pipe went and led him up, so he insists he was the lucky charm! The good news is that he is fine this morning and we will be on the lookout for further races for him.

Bashful Boy runs at Goodwood Today

We have one runner today at Glorious Goodwood, Bashful Boy who runs in the opening contest on the card, the 2m4f staying handicap and Amt Waugh rides.  There are 12 runners and it is a competitive handicap and we are one of the outsiders of the field but I would hope he has an each way chance.  The deluge of rain at the track yesterday was not necessarily ideal but I imagine the track could even dry back to good to soft going by the first race which will be absolutely fine.  He does have some form on soft going, including when he finished fourth in the 2023 Cesarewitch at a big price.  While he has not won for a while, he ran well in the Chester Cup earlier this summer and then ran well to be a close third at Newbury last time in the first time visor which he retains today.  He races from out of the handicap but Amy claims a handy three pounds and he won't know he even has anyone on his back!  It is a tough assignment but if he puts his best foot forwards I would not be surprised to see him but up a nice performance.

The good racing action continues thick and fast this week and we have more top class races to look forward to today at Goodwood and Galway.  Ryan Moore won both the opening Group contests on yesterdays Goodwood card and it was a dead heat for the first of those as he shared the spoils with Rossa Ryan.  There was an upset in the feature race of the day as Field of Gold did not run his race and the Group 1 was won by Juddmontes second string, Qirat at 150/1 who beat Rosallion by a neck.  There seemed a bit of an eerie silence at the track with this result but that is what can happen in horse racing sometimes and it is not like Qirat is without ability, he was just not expected to be good enough for this race!  Well done to jockey Richard Kingscote who is now off to ride in Japan for a while.

We move onto day two of Glorious Goodwood and day three of the Galway Festival today with some great racing to look forward to both sides of the Irish sea.  Ryan Moore is on board the two favourites for the Group 3 races this afternoon at Goodwood, the first, Tabiti in the Oak Tree Stakes over 7F at 1.55pm for Ralph Beckett.  The second, is Lady Iman in the 2.30pm Molecomb Stakes for Ger Lyons over 5F.  The first looks an open race but I think he should win on Lady Iman.  The feature race of the day is the Qatar Sussex Stakes at 3.30pm and William Buick partners the very exciting Field of Gold for the Gosden team in replace of Colin Keane who is banned.  I think this colt is one of the most exciting flat horses I have seen this summer and he will take all the beating in this.
