David produced a good training performance yesterday to get Abracadabra to win on his first start for the stable when getting the better of odds-on favourite Lockstockandbarrel in the novices' chase at Leicester. I reckon the commentators must have been reading my blog as he said "David Pipe has worked his magic on Abracadabra Sivola!" He jumped pretty well in the main and outbattled the favourite in the closing stages under a good ride from Tom Scudamore. He looks like a nice staying chaser in the making so hopefully he can build on this promise and go on to better things.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Leicester and Catterick as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield. The stable has a couple of runners at Leicester; Abracadabra Sivola and Spending Time, while Purple 'N Gold runs on the level at Lingfield and will be partnered by Dougie Costello. Tom Scudamore is aboard our pair of jumpers and I wonder if he will be able to make the opposition disappear on Abracadabra? He has some decent form in the book and could go well with a clear round of jumping, while Spending Time needs to improve on his most recent efforts but David has found a decent opportunity for him.

Today we have three meetings taking place with jumps cards at Ayr and Plumpton as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Wolverhampton. The stable has no runners this afternoon although Tom Scudamore travels to Plumpton this afternoon where he has picked up three rides for David Bridgwater and they all appear to have decent chances. Saffron Prince looks like the best of them.

It is a quiet day on the racing front with just two meetings taking place with jumps cards from Fontwell and Southwell. The stable has one runner today; Bladoun who runs in the handicap hurdle at Fontwell - he has some decent form in the context of this race and finished fourth last time out. Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and he should go well. Meanwhile, credit it where it is due and Southwell have put up some decent prize money for their Sunday fixture. Of course, the best fixture of the day is over in Ireland and Willie Mullins looks to have plenty of ammunition to fire at the Leopardstown card. A few of these will be having their final runs before the Cheltenham Festival.

Although not busy in terms of quantity there is plenty of quality among the four meetings today with jumps action from Chepstow, Kempton and Newcastle as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield. The stable has runners at Chepstow and Newcastle and stable jockey Tom Scudamore has elected to go to the Welsh track where he partners Brook and Kings Palace (picture above) who reverts to hurdles today in the Pertemps handicap hurdle qualifier. Meanwhile, also in the qualifier Conor O'Farrell is aboard Batavir and conditional jockey Michael Heard comes in for the ride aboard Gevrey Chambertin. Up at Newcastle David Noonan has picked up a couple of nice mounts in Heath Hunter and Cork Citizen (who contests the Eider Chase) they both have decent form and could run big races.

The good recent form of the stable continued yesterday as Vazaro Delafayette ran out a comfortable winner of the novices' chase at Huntingdon. He wasn't convincing with his jumping early on but Tom Scudamore gave him plenty of time to get into his rhythm and stuck to the inner the whole way. He picked up in good style in the end to win by eleven lengths and it is not difficult to imagine him being turned out again shortly to try to defy a penalty before the handicapper has his say.

The stable was among the winners again yesterday afternoon as Chic Theatre produced a gutsy performance under Tom Scudamore to land the novices' hurdle at Doncaster in a thrilling finish. He was up with the leaders throughout but looked a sitting duck in front with several potential challengers seemingly travelling every bit as well as our runner. He found plenty for pressure however and prevailed by a head in a driving finish. He was untidy at the last but for which I think he would have won a little easier - he showed a willing attitude here and can surely go on to better things over timber.
