The stable horses continue in good form following another successful weekend.  Mr Big Shot was an impressive winner of the bumper at Uttoxeter under Conor O'Farrell on Saturday, scoring by an ever increasing eight lengths and furthermore he looks as though he will be suited by an even longer trip.  Meanwhile on Sunday Iniciar won by five lengths at Carlisle - it seems as though the better ground is just what our six year old needed.  There were good efforts too from Batavir who finished runner-up at Ffos Las and Eamon An Cnoic who was third in the bumper.  The latter is another who looks as though he will appreciate a greater test of stamina, not surprising when you consider that he was previously runner-up in an Irish point-to-point.

Batavir - runs at Ffos Las

Today there are just two jumps cards at Carlisle and Ffos Fas and David has runners at both meetings.  Baraka De Thaix and Iniciar run at Carlisle ridden by Daryl Jacob and Batavir and Eamon An Cnoic run at Ffos Las ridden by Tom Scu.  Baraka De Thaix has run consistentky on most of his starts this season without getting his head in front but ran well at the track last time and with cheek pieces on hopefully he will run again.  Iniciar returns from a mini break and needs to step up on what he has done so far.  Batavir ran well at Chepstow last time out in first time blinkers and if they work again he should run well.  Eamon An Cnoic makes his debut for the yard.  He was second in an Irish point to point and is a lovely type who should be able to win a bumper.

Katkeau runs in the Midlands National

There is no let up in the jumping action today as we have four jumps cards at Uttoxeter, Newcastle, Kempton and Fontwell plus a flat card at Wolverhampton.  David has runners at three of the jumps meetings, running Abracadabra Sivola, Katkeau, Standing Ovation, Brook and Mr Big Shot at Uttoxeter.  David also runs Purple N Gold at Kempton and Heath Hunter at Newcastle.  Abracadabra Sivola won last time out, his stable debut at Leicester.  This is tougher but we are hopeful of another big run with Tom Scu on board.  Katkeau has to carry top weight in the Midlands National but he seems in good form as I watched him do a nice piece of work on the gallops during the week.  Standing Ovation has had a mini winter break and also runs in the Midlands National with Conor O'Farrell in the saddle coming here fresh having not run since October.  He has been a great servant to the yard and although the distance is a bit of an unknown we think her should run well.

Champers on Ice runs at Cheltenham

I can't believe it is the last day of the Cheltenham Festival already, it seems to have gone so quick!  Today we also have cards at Fakenham, Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has two runners at Cheltenham, Starchitect and Champers On Ice.  Starchitect runs in the 2.10 County hurdle and as you would expect it is a wide open race and they go 7/1 the field.  He was a good second last time out on heavy ground at Newbury in the Betfair hurdle.  That was is stable/seasonal debut and he went up six pounds for that race.  He has won on good ground and at 10/1 we are hopeful of a big run.  Champers on Ice runs in the 2.50 Albert Bartlett which is another wide open race.  Champers is a 20/1 chance and he has been beaten by Shantou Village earlier in the season and he looks the one they all have to beat on this ground to me.

          Dynaste on the Gallops

Today we of course have day three of the Cheltenham Festival and we also have jumps cards at Hexham and Towcester plus a flat card at Chelsmford.  It is a busy day for the stable as David has plenty of runners at the Festival.  Previous Festival winners, Dynaste and Ballynagour are in action again as well as Kings Palace, Doctor Harper, Top Wood, Alternatif and Amigo.  In the 4.10 Plate, Ballynagour is ridden by David Noonan and Tom Scu rides Kings Palace.  Last week I was with AP and he was very keen on the chances of John's Spirit.  I see that he is 5/1 favourite and who am I to argue with a Sir?!

Un Temps Pour Tout - Festival Winner!

Un Temp Pour Tout means 'A Time for Everything' and yesterday was his time.  It was great for David and the team to get a winner on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival.  The roar that went up when Un Temp Pour Tout won the Ultima handicap chase was deafening.  Part owners Bryan Drew and son Harry were very emotional and it just highlights how special it is to have a winner at the Olympics of our sport.  It was a great ride from Tom Scu and the horse jumped like a stag.  The asked Scu when he thought he had the race in the bag, he replied, "when I schooled him last Thursday!".  Other co owner Professor Caroline Tisdall was also emotional and it was brilliant for the whole team.  Vieux Lion Rouge also ran a cracker to finish sixth in the 4 mile novice chase.  He moved into it stylishly 3 out but did not quite come up the hill.  It was still as fine effort and we are delighted with the run and pleased to report that both horses are okay this morning.
