Today there are four meetings taking place with flat action from Salisbury, Haydock and Chelmsford City while there is a jumps fixture from Sedgefield.  The stable makes the long trip up to Sedgefield this afternoon with two runners; Skylander and Gabrial The Great.  Skylander was a winner last time out at Worcester and needed every inch of the 2m7f trip to prevail so this marathon distance should suit him, although he is 4lbs higher in the weights today.  Hopefully the longer trip may bring about a bit more improvement.  Meanwhile, winning chaser Gabrial The Great reverts to hurdles and looks to have solid claims under Tom Scudamore.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Bath, Lingfield and Carlisle, while there are two (yes, two!) jumps fixtures from Southwell and Newton Abbot.   David has four runners at our local track, Newton Abbot - in the 5.05pm race he runs forecast favourite Poisoned Berry (pictured above) who was a Worcester bumper winner on her debut for the stable on good ground.  She has schooled well at home and this trip of 2m5 1/2f should suit her.  We also run old favourites Houston Dynimo and Lady Of Longstone (both have won from higher marks, albeit Lady Of Longstone was over hurdles), while Rathealy carries top weight in the trappy little handicap hurdle.  Rathealy needs to improve on his recent starts to figure.  We were due to have a runner at Southwell, although Mr Burgees does not now take his chance.

It was a good day for the stable yesterday with two of the three runners obliging at Cartmel.  Father Edward (pictured above) made a good debut for the Pond House team by winning the staying chase by a comfortable nine lengths at 17/2, in the process picking up over £12,500.  It was a good performance from horse and jockey and an excellent training feat from David (just don't tell him I said as much!).  Ennistown (pictured below) completed the double when bolting up in the staying handicap hurdle, seeing out the longer trip in good style and looking like an improved performer.  He too picked up over £12,500 so the long trip was certainly worthwhile.  Newcomer Dauphine Ereine, a half-sister to Dynaste ran a promising race on her first start in this country and she should be winning races sooner rather than later.

Today we have five meetings, flat cards at Epsom, Ripon, Newcastle and Chepstow plus a jumps card at Cartmel.  David has three runners, Father Edward, Dauphine Ereine and Ennistown at Cartmel.  Father Edward makes his Pond House debut in the 4.05pm, 3m handicap chase.  He has been placed over fences on soft ground and has been working well at home.  He is 7/1 in the Racing Post and he looks like he has a pair of Jacks to beat!  Dauphine Ereine is also making her stable debut.  She has won all three of her starts over fences in France, two of which were on good to soft going.  She is a half sister to stable star Dynaste and she looks to have a favourites chance getting a four year olds weight allowance from her elders in the race.  Ennistown is a 9/2 chance in the Racing Post.  He was a good third at Newton Abbot over 2m5f last time and looked like a step up in trip to 3 miles should suit.  Tom Scu rides all three runners and fingers crossed they will run well.

There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon with three flat meetings coming from Goodwood, Beverley and Yarmouth - hard luck I'm afraid if you are a fan of the jumps on a Bank Holiday weekend.  Still we will have some runners at Cartmel tomorrow so it is not all doom and gloom!  The ground at Goodwood and Yarmouth this afternoon is good/firm while Beverley have clearly had a bit more of the wet stuff as their official going is good/soft.  Let's hope the ground doesn't get too quick as I would imagine there will be a whole host of non-runners.

Today there are five meetings taking place with flat action from Goodwood, Beverley, Newmarket, Windsor and Redcar while there is a jumps card from Cartmel.  David has four runners at Cartmel over the Bank Holiday meeting - Port Navas (pictured above) makes his seasonal debut today in the 2.15pm race, while he has three runners on Monday.  Port Navas is a 10/1 chance according to the Racing Post having finished fourth at Exeter last time over a much longer trip.  He would need to improve on what he has shown so far to figure.  Cartmel is a great track to visit, although probably not the easiest to get into on a Bank Holiday.  If you are thinking of going, make sure that you give yourself plenty of time

We were joined by a few of the team from Exeter racecourse (pictured above) yesterday as they were on a bit of a staff day out.  It was good to see them (especially the young ladies!) and they were given a tour of the yard and watched some of the horses in action on the gallops.
